Vim AROS/MOS

Vim is a highly configurable text editor built to make creating and changing any kind of text very efficient. Vim is rock stable and is continuously being developed to become even better. Among its features are:

* persistent, multi-level undo tree
* extensive plugin system
* support for hundreds of programming languages and file formats
* powerful search and replace
* integrates with many tools

VIM v8.2.2993: Download (all versions)

Please note that this is not a straight port of the upstream version.
It includes a full MUI GUI with most of the bells and whistles found
in Vim on any of the major platforms.

Yeah, I was wondering whether it is light enough to run on a wb 3.1/3.9 system that has an 060 50MHz CPU..

The last console version that actually installs on an Amiga runs pretty ok, but it is not that nice to use thanks to running inside an Amiga console window. I was secretly hoping for exactly this - gVim ported to MUI or some other Amiga GUI toolkit.

Never understood the point of gvim. What's wrong with running vim in a console window?

I must admit I have never actually tried vim on the Amiga. Use it daily on my Mac.

Well it's basically the same problem as with any unix stuff that's not been amigafied very much when porting. There are lots off little things that are off, even though the editor is usable. I would prefer my Amiga editor to run on its own screen or in a separate window instead of hogging up my CLI when I start it and such. I was able to work around these things with a wrapper script, but still somehow it left things to be desired. I haven't tried it for a while, as I didn't bother transferring my setup to the 4k when I retired my 3k..

I live most of my life inside a console Vi(m), not gVim, but as said, the previous Amiga port just didn't feel very Amiga.
