(Whistles Magic Roundabout themetune.)

Hello? Which universe are you inhabiting? OctaMED Sound Studio was released as freeware by RBF and is available on the Aminet. OctaMED 3.2 is also up there. OctaMEDs 4, 5 and 6 were probably freewared too, but since Sound Studio was the definitive version, I can't see anyone trying to track the older versions down.

APC&TCP haven't actually done anything with OctaMED SS2 since releasing a half-assed demo hack of Sound Studio about 10 years ago. Unless APC&TCP are a front for 3D Realms, of course, and they're composing all of the Duke Nukem Forever music using MED SS2...

@Ultron: MED 3, 4, 5, 6 and Sound Studio were all released on coverdisks, either with CU or AF depending on who was reviewing the latest version that month. Coverdisk releases don't mean that the software is freeware; it was just a way of making some money out of the old version (mags had to pay a fair whack to distribute the software). However, there are loads of coverdisk archives on the net. Perhaps AndreasM will go chase them down next.

I have all the versions of octamed ( ver 2 - 6 ) and SS...

ALL of these are from the official Octamed site or from Coverdisks

@AndreasM
In a community you should be helping people not trying to rip them off. keep this in mind the next time your company aquires another 10 year out of date pointless license.

The beta was uploaded to the Aminet on the 11 of August, 2000. 7 years? Are you working at it with chisels or something?

Hey friends,

I understand what you mean, really.

But I think it´s great to have at least a hand full of commercial Amiga titles in the future.
AndreasM and his team help to keep our Amiga alive (Amiga Future, online stuff, software etc.).

We should support them as well.

And OctaMed SS is free, so no probs?!

Well, at least you've seen sense on that front. I was expecting you to have sent an email to the Aminet's various hosts and for the whole thing to suddenly disappear.

@ Ultron:

Hey, I love Bernie
But only part one.

Amiga is alive ´cause we are!
We all buy stuff on Ebay...old stuff, sometimes it´s expensive.

I think we should buy new Amiga stuff, too.

I´m sure there would be a small market to sell things.

E.g.:
There was a thread about real hardware owned by EAB´s.
I think there are more than 500 Amigans here with real hardware.
And the rest? Non-EAB´s?!

Wouldn´t you buy a great 68k-Game (Arcade, shooter or adventure)?
No? So why do you play all these classics then?
Just imagine a fantastic classic gameplay with great new gfx! (AGA /gfx card based)

All we need are some good programmers and gfx-artists.
It´s worth to support Amiga style games even in 2007!

I would pay hundreds of Euros for professional CDs and booklets (300-500)
to have a new, great and professional Amiga game back in my hands.
Just for me and for you, the Amigans out there.

We could sell it for 10-15 Euros.

I´m ready! Just show me a great game project (68k) with great gfx and I´ll pay for CD mastering!
Dream on, let´s found a small company and sell our game all over the world.
I´m sure we´re able to sell more than 500 copies!

Isn't that what you normally do?

1. Spot a file being hosted that you think belongs to you;
2. Immediately write to the site's ISP and hosting company that they are infringing your rights;
3. Boast in a thread on EAB that you've reported the user;
4. Ignore any attempts by the user to placate you by removing your file;
5. Insist on acting like a complete tit until the whole site is taken down.

Any reasonable person would do this:

1. Spot a file being hosted that you think belongs to you;
2. Send a PM to the user asking that he takes the file down.

File gets removed, site stays up, everybody's happy.

no.

1) Write to the webmaster
2) When the webmaster dont answer, write to the hoster.

(example romulators: dont become a answer from the webmaster -> write to the hoster)

When the webmaster dont like to answer us. right, we do all to close the page...

Example the FTP I set up last year: You gave me about 5 minutes notice via PM. Thanks. Ever think that, perhaps, some people have other things to do?

Because it's unpleasant. Do you enjoy being needlessly unpleasant?

oh, its unpleasant when other users know you have a illegal ftp server.

many years we have only written in our software and page thats not ok to spread our software, and nobody accept this. first as we start to closes pages and written this on the boards and closed pages, the webmaster accept our rights. not nice for the webmasters, but its works.

In all my time on this board I've never seen anyone refuse to remove a file that someone else claims to have the copyright on. The moment they become aware of the infringement the file gets removed.

You can protect your rights without being a fuckwit. You might want to try that.
