Need Help to Revive an A2000 ....

Picked up an A2000 version 4.1.
Cleaned out the dust and removed the leaking battery.
Looked like no damage was done from the acid.

The 2000 has a HD , HD controller and 2088 bridgeboard .

When I powered it up, it booted to the 1.2 Kickstart screen.
Put a 1.2 WB floppy in and it booted to the desktop but the HD is not seen?

Anyone suggest how I'd activate the HD under 1.2?
I assume the bridgeboard software is on the HD too.

Here's a pic of the HD controller and HD connectors, nothing like I've seen before. Any suggestions or anyone recognize it ?

(Update looks like a MFM connector on the HD?, but I have no idea how to activate the drive.)

wb 1.2 doesn't have any software for hardisks
in fact under WB 1.2 hardisks don't boot...you must purchase at least kick1.3 to make that hardisk booteable
otherwise you must make a special floppy with correct arguments to mount that hardisk

to config the hardisk get the software here

This one looks like PC XT (8bit ISA) MFM HDD controller - probably can be accessed by Amiga only trough PC emulation (2088 bridgeboard).

You will need to make a janus boot disk. binddrivers will need to be in the start up sequence somewhere. There is a way to share the hard drive with both the bridgeboard and amiga, but you will need to make a floppy to boot from. I can't remember how to do it it has been years since having to do it. I think I might have a janus boot disk still kicking around though.

The Janus boot disk is a modified workbench boot disk that has the calls to begin the bridgeboard. The one I have is WB 1.3 not 1.2. You may want to upgrade the rom to 1.3. They are quite cheap and easy to install yourself.

Might still work as I noticed I can boot from a 1.3 WB disk.
Sent you a PM....

I found a Janus 2.1 disc here:
http://www.l8r.net/install/misc/Janus2.1.DMS

Had to delete a number of files on WB 1.2 but then it installed to floppy.

Boots to a Mono PC screen with a flashing cursor,
then an amiga requester pops up to insert work disc?

Thanks Turran.

Renamed the disc and found a english A2088 pdf on bombjack site.

I had to also set the a jumper on the 2088 to mono.
Then I attached the old MFM drive and boom ... C:>

I also attached a external 3.5" drive to the 2088, it works as B: but can it boot from the 3.5" drive?

I would get a Amiga SCSI host adaptor, like the A2091 or GVP Series II and mount a HD on it. Get a Kickstart 1.3 ROM or better yet a 3.1 and off you go.

Yes a amiga hd would be great seems hard to find, would love a ide / cf card for it.

Found an amiga partition on the PC drive !

Also was able to hook up and use a 3.5" 720k drive to the internal drive connector on the a2088.
The 3.5" drive was pulled from a Commodore 1581 and just worked when connected !

Here's instructions of how to use the an external drive as as the a: drive to allow it to boot.
http://www.amiga-stuff.com/hardware/a2088.html

And here's a link to the English manual for the a2088
