Turrican III / Turrican III - Payment Day - question about covers
http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/5733/
This third-party site shows a Turrican III version not in HOL. It has the subtitle 'Payment Day' and IMHO looks lots nicer than the other cover, which you can see on HOL. (But, yes, it is a matter of taste. ) Which version was published/distributed where? Can you shed a little light on that please? |

Even though the picture of the back of the box is too small to make out properly, I think I can see german text even though the front is english. Also if you look at the HOL one you see en-fr-it flags but no de.
So I'd say it was the original german version published by Rainbow Arts (softgold) whereas the hol one is the european version published by Renegade |

Thanks, that sounds plausible.
Heh, the title screen of the game too says "Published by SOFTGOLD", so I'd believe this is more correct than Rainbow Arts. Maybe the game was jointly developed between RA and Factor 5? DrBong, help is needed! BTW, initially, I wanted to post this in the internal team forum. But on second thought, this would have been a bad idea, because of people like T. R. Schmidt, who runs nemmelheim.de and apparently has *direct* contact to the developers who could give information at first hand if need be. |

ok lets explain this a little bit:
the version what you can see in HOL is the "multilanguage" version this means that the manual and the box was printed in 3 different languages whaich were english, french and italian... the box that is shown on the legacy was the "german" version.. of course only the box and the manual was written in german. the ingame graphic and texts were still english like the "multilanguage" version... i thin that renegade didn´t like to publish it in germany so that softgold said: ok, we should do it... maybe it was so, i don´t know... |

Thanks.
Fact seems that Rainbow Arts is NOT the publisher then? But Softgold (GER) and Renegade (Rest of the world)? |

Andreas, Rainbow Arts is a label of Softgold so there's no suprise that it says published by softgold in the game.

Anyway, I don't know anything about that version, but I don't think they added the *english* subtitle "Payment Day" to a version which was especially for Germany...? |

it must be so...
the contents of the package with the subtitle "Payment Day" were all german spoken... don´t ask me why they did it... i´m also confused... |

Turrican 3 was published in 1993, when Rushware (according to this entry) was already finished merging with Softgold to Funsoft Holding GmbH. Softgold IS a label of Rushware. So Rainbow Arts (Softgold/Rushware) *may* be correct, but may as well be not. With such complicated linkages, I must be absolutely sure before changing anything. The entry for Future Tank either doesn't seem to be even remotely correct. Three publishers? Time Warp + RA + Softgold (RW)?! |

Should we change this a bit perhaps, and if so, in how far? |

The text is okay, but you have to read the second sentence twice to understand it.

I know what you mean. Could be worded a bit more plausibly.
