Modems and terminal programs
Noob here--still having problems with the wimodem 232 SO what kind of modems and terminal programs are you all using? Mostly interested in connecting with bulletin boards as opposed to transferring files. Thanks!

Hyper Terminal is still in development although you have to pay for it... (free 30-day trial)
https://www.hilgraeve.com/hyperterminal/ I tend to use PuTTY these days although I always liked HT. |

You can copy HT from older windows. It still works.
Putty excellent free alternative. |

Sorry I wasn't clear. What kind of modems and terminal apps are you using on your Amigas?

I use Terminus and Term, depending on whether I need a light terminal program or whether I need accurate terminal emulation. Others use others. If you have the horsepower to run it, Term is basically the best of them all, it does everything well but will be awful on a slow / mem starved machine.
For BBS use, Terminus or NComm is fine. For using up-to-date console programs in a Unix shell, you will need an accurate terminal. I haven't used a modem since ages, nor do I have a wifi modem. I have direct null modem connections to linux machines running a getty on the serial port, and work forwards from there. Last edited by Jope; 30 August 2021 at 12:13. |

I also started with JRComm. Terminus is a rewrite of JRComm by the same author. :-)
