Apache is the web server that runs the majority of the internet, on Linux servers. The problem with Amibay is that the Apache server was upgraded from version 1.3.4 to 2.2 and there were a lot of changes between these 2 versions, as you can imagine. A lot was changed to increase security of the server and in doing so they stopped certain coding methods, and introduced others. So the issue we have is that the site is broken because it is using some code somewhere that worked fine under the old version of Apache, but it isn't liked by the new version. Hopefully it isn't a big issue to fix it... it's just finding where the problem is. |

To be fair, while a lot of us are feeling the "itch" (I've only been on there a week, and I'm already needing a fix!), and a few of us have an ongoing transaction, it's not like this was an intentional outage, and poor oul' Harrison has a lot on his plate with the house and wee one. As Shambles said, life comes first.
My bet is a fresh install of vbulletin, as well as the accompanying modules, and a rebuild of the database is in order. |

Interesting..
Wrong, but interesting... ;-) It is a webserver like IIS. It's not Java based. Written in C. I'm sure he doesn't need any help, but if he does, have him PM me.. I'm pretty Apache familiar... (Just read Harrison's reply.. Sounds like he's got it well covered...) desiv |

Maybe more like editing the httpd.conf file to point to the where the index.php actually is, but then again, I know zilch about Apache...

DocumentRoot "/srv/www/mywebdir" or it could be more application specific and several changes.. 1.3 to 2.x in Apache was a big jump... Could also be the you need to enable processing for .php files as indexes, or PHP needs to be enabled or ????? desiv |

Harrison has found the issue, we know what's wrong and he has referred it to 1&1's datacentre to sort it out, since it was their upgrade to Apache that has caused the problem.
The site is refusing to parse some files following their upgrade to Apache 2.x..... |

If you can get some piccies to me and your PayPal, I hope the Amibay mods would be OK with me completing the transaction here if we promise to update the thread when everything is working again! |
