A4000 Power Supply Replacement

I am thinking of getting a new power supply for my Amiga.
Found a few which will fit into th Amiga 4000 desktop. Has anyone ever done this before. I am thinking getting a FSP270-50SNV or a similar PSU.
Any ideas welcome.
TIA

You'll have to reroute the power cable + switch if you're going to use that unit..

Of course if you just remove the circuit board from inside the new PSU and install it in the A4000 PSU case, then it'll be easier.

I think I saw some converters from an ATX PSU to Amiga PSU so that you don't have to do any wiring. The problem is that you may have to use an alternative way to switch on your Amiga. or adjust a new button on the back to do so. I basically bought an A4000 PSU as a replacement. You get them for peanuts anyway.

With ATX, you have to ground the power on line, a simple momentary pushbutton won't cut it.

That's not quiet right. You simply connect ground 'black' and 'pwr good' together. You can do this very easily with a push botton and some wire. have a look at thist link PSU Mod .
I have done this to power my external HD and CD drive for the A1200.

Please don't connect power good to ground, you'll probably at least pop a fuse, or perhaps something worse.

The correct signal is Power Supply On - the green wire, which is at pin 14

That was I said. 'PWR Good' = 'Power Supply On'. Different saying same meaning.

No, PWR Good is a signal that turns to +5 once the PSU has recognised that the voltages it gives out have stabilised.. Some PC motherboards wait until PWR Good is up and only then switch the CPU and other power hungry components on.

It's located in pin 8 of the ATX connector and the wire is grey.

Please don't connect PWR Good to ground. The line only gives out a few milliAmps (it's only a signal, not a power cable), but nevertheless, it isn't a good idea. :-)

Sorry about insisting, but I feel, that things must be talked about with their correct meanings, to avoid potentially fatal (to the PSU :-) misunderstandings.

Have you had a look at this link? Sorry, it is pin 14 'P ON'.
That what i meant. You are right 'Power Good' is -5v.

Yesterday, I replace the Fan in the A4000 PSU with one out of an old ATX PSU. Works great. Much quieter. I had a look at the ATX PSU board and it the same size as the Amiga one. Now, I am thinking to take out the ATX PSU board and replace it with the Amiga one. I know I have to rewire and relocate some cable. But it should work.
My question is, does anyone here has an old broken A4000 PSU to spare. I will pay for it.
Don't want it for free. I just don't want to destroy my working A4000 PSU.
TIA
