I have the PSX to DB9 computers adapter too. Unfortunately they are very fragile. If you connect them when Amiga is ON - they brake :/
I have third now, I was lucky that guy who sold me them had spare one.

Just for the record: a) old VGA monitors were also CRTs b) and also had scanlines (subtler, but still) c) the game was mainly targeting consoles (was even supposed to be a Saturn exclusive)

Heart of Darkness OS 3.1 Standard + AHI 4.8:

http://eab.abime.net/zone/HeartOFDarkness-OS3.1.avi

So need to install AHI 4.8 in my Standard OS3.1 to get the game works?

Delete or rename "ahi.prefs".
My .HDF that you tested with doesn't have the "weird pixels" and is running fine; as the new "hode_m68k.zip" hasn't been applied to that.

...but in regards to what you said about "ahi.prefs"; this is created after I set the options that I want for AHI.

If I deleted this then these settings are not applied:
... Paula:Fast 14 bit stereo++ calibrated
... Frequency = 22050 Hz
... Channels = 1

So for all my RTG games you're saying I don't need the installed "uaegfx. card" and it's better?

You need to setup an RTG graphics card.

So OS 3.1 with AHI 4.18 + Picasso96 + RTG Master; and then the Heart of Darkness required files.

Games needs 256MB of RAM.

Finally, don't forget to set "stack 100000".

No I have updated your HardFile with the new "hode_m68k.zip, if you try to update it you will have the graphic artifacts.

On OS 3.1, graphic artifacts also appear for other reasons, for example, the Workbench background if enabled.

Yes "ahi.prefs" is the save but in your case "hode_m68k.zip" is incompatible, if you use "Paula= 8Bit" you shouldn't have graphic artifacts, better if you use "Uae.audio= 16Bit".

You do not need the latest versions of WinUAE have "uaegfx. card" integrated and is much more updated.

So how and where do I set "Uae.audio= 16Bit"?

If you're talking in AHI then the "ahi.prefs" file will be created (which I thought you said causes issues).

So just tested "hode_m68k.zip" with no AHI settings chosen i.e. meaning no "ahi.prefs" file.

Indeed the graphics issues reported here are no more:

Strange that AHI settings cause this.

Strange yes, as said, even if you use a background on the Workbench you will have the graphical artifacts, strange also that on Afa OS the problem does not exist.

Simple in the WinUAE archive folder "Amiga Programs" you can find the archive "ahidriver.zip" where inside there are the UAE Drivers. Once installed in the respective folders in Devs, you will find the USE driver in AHI Prefs

Ok, so if I do the above and set "UAE : 16 bit HIFI Stereo++" in AHI, then I also do not have the "weird graphics" issues when using "hode_m68k.zip"

Edit: but the game does crash when watching the intro; like Mad-Matt reported...

With "hode_m68k.zip" the problem is the audio of the introductory video crashing with all OS. The initial porting does not have this problem on the video, disable the video and everything should work.

No depends on the type of choice, UAE 16Bit 44100 for example should be fine.

Thanks arti, this one works great

Could you possibly add the border fix to this version though like you did with "hode_m68k.zip"?

I intermittently get parts of the screen repeated like with the original file:

Actually, the above right / bottom corruption is usually caused when you jump out of your ship and the screens shakes.

I found a way to stop it though; if you push left / right before jumping out of your ship this doesn't happen as often

Edit: but this corruption sometimes happens later in the game also.

I found a "setup-cfg" file that allows you access to all levels / sections

In The Zone! for anyone that wants it. It just needs to be extracted to your "Heart of Darkness" folder
