I uploaded a few hundred game cheats to the zone in case anyone might need them.

Are the cheats in HOL checked? There are tons of cheats out there that don't work or are wrong. It would be nice to have a reliable source.

Codetapper has been doing the cheats. He probably checks them, I would imagine.

Not done a "Guess the Screenshot" for a while so I thought I'd lay down the challenge to see how good you lot really are. This could be a bit of a tough one.

I knew you'd find this one difficult.

It's a deliberately misleading screenshot. This is actually very very tough for several reasons.

1) The game has nothing to do with the Alien films and should probably have been sued for such a blatant breach of copyright.

2) Unless you have played this game to the very end you will not know it. That is a picture of the end of game boss. Probably one of the reasons why they didn't get sued by Fox. The game is so damn tough no-one managed to get to the end level which is full of face-huggers and alien pods.... and of course the queen.

3) It's just a damn hard game.

So I'm going to give you a couple of clues to make it easier.

1) The game is a side scrolling shoot-em-up with several different levels, the last of which being a blatant Aliens rip-off.

2) The game name begins with the letter R. Good luck!!

The cheats in HOL are imported from Sweet Cheater originally by Keith Krellwitz. I would estimate that about 70-80% of them are verified.

The latest script I have actually puts the verified information into the text files (ie. they state that the cheat works) but I'm still trying to find time to finish it off.

Every game I fix for WHDLoad I check that the cheats listed work and if not, remove them. And often by fixing the keyboard routines in games you can detect the cheat mode if it's of the "enter such and such a word" variety...

If you find a cheat which definitely does not work please send me an email or PM and I'll look into removing it. I do not have a complete TOSEC set so I don't have a lot of the games to verify.
