A570 RAM Expansion

Just thought I'd let you know, if anyone is thinking about it...

I got a 2MB Fast RAM expansion for the A570 through the mail today from Nicolas Welte. He's a nice, friendly guy and kept in contact while it was being prepared...

So if anyone out there has an A570 and wanted some Fast RAM put in, I'd highly reccomend this product.

Details on the BBoAH:
http://amigahardware.mariomisic.de/index_e.html

Excellent product

Edit:

If you want one, you have to email him. The address can be found on his site: http://x1541.de/
Also: Direct link to his own info page: http://freenet-homepage.de/x1541/hardware/a570ram.html

Very nice. Does the RAM show up as normal Fast RAM? Is it autoconfigure?

lol.. I guess there wouldn't be.. Although personally I just bought it because it was there.. Don't use the A570 too much to be honest, since I have a CDTV to do that.. Although it is nice to have CD access on the 500

Yes, shows up as normal fast RAM. And yes it does autoconfig. (The RAM controller itself is actually already on the A570, the board is basically just memory chips on a connector with the signals going to the right places.

I ordered one on the 13th September, paid via PayPal and am still waiting.

The guy has done a little disappearing act, not replying to emails etc.

Hopefully he's just busy but I thought I should follow up here.

Yeah, he did take a bit of a while with mine too, but he builds them to order.. He's actually a really nice, genuine guy from my experience

Mine is still not here after 2.5 months.

If you are thinking of getting one, it might be wise to get a date up front for delivery before handing over your cash.

You cant really go elsewhere and I am sure he's a "good guy" but just overworked.

It arrived a week or two before xmas. So perhaps 2-3 months.

It turned out he'd run out of RAM chips / had used the wrong ones.

Damn glad I insisted he test it.

Unfortunately I'm suffering from the same symptoms of WHDload problems that have been seen on the CDTV. Only games that will preload into 4Mbytes (2Mbyte Chip + 2Mbyte Fast) work

Don't use my A500 or CDTV as a WHDLoad machine, so dunno about that..

May give it a try in a day or 2 though
