4000T & Cyberstorm Problems

I have a Cyberstorm MK1 68060@50 mhz.........what would be the correct settings for the jumpers J100 & J104 on the 4000T's mother board ?

Would these be the only 2 jumpers that i need to alter ?

The processor board i took out of the 4000T,i think is a 68030@25mz ?

If i set J100 & J104 to INT (pins 1 + 2) would this be correct for the 68030@25mhz ?

And....if i set them to EXT (Pins 2 +3) would this be correct for 68060@50mhz ?

Have you checked the manual?

Agree, the manual is very fuzzy
My '030 processor board in one of my A4000 had the jumper settings set to INT when the card was used

Well, just try if it works with INT or EXT..don't think you'll burn anything..the machine just won't boot with the wrong settings like with Cyberstorm MKII and MKIII

If i use my 030 card and set the jumpers to INT it works fine !

If i use my 060 card and set the jumpers to EXT It doesn't work ?

It says to install the software before the card.........

Is this just a matter of copying the 68060.library into the LIBS directory on the hardrive ?

The processor boards shipped with the A4000T's should be C= 68040 25mhz and Quickpak 68060 boards

Yes, you have to copy to libs from the install disk to your libs folder on your Workbench partition

The J100 and J104 on the A4000T seem to have the same meaning as for the A4000D, according to amiga-hardware.com.

Examples I know of on A4000D:
Set it to INT for commodore 68EC030 card
Set it to EXT for commodore 68040 card (A3640)
Set it to EXT for Cyberstorm PPC + 060/50

Think it has something to do with where the accelerator needs to get the clock signal from or whether the card can generate its own - didn't quite understand any explanations I have read in the past on it.

Make sure you copy the 68040.library across too, not just the 68060.library.

The jumpers should be set to INT if the CS MK1 uses the same settings as a CS MK2. The computer will boot even if you don't have the libraries installed, it will most likely just crash during loading of the OS. Just hold the two mousebuttons during power on, to see if the jumper settings are correct.

And how will i know if the settings are correct ?

Because it will say "ok" next to the boards ?

Just copy all of the libs from the Phase 5 install disk to your libs
which means you will overwrite any old 68040 library if you have one

You will know if the computer starts up. If the jumpers were set incorrectly, the computer wouldn't boot.

Hmmm......This is exactly what has been happening !

The jumpers were set to EXT, and when i tried to boot the machine up,it just kept resseting it self and trying to re-boot !

The only thing i haven't tried yet is copying 68040 library across....but didn't think this would make much difference to the booting of the machine !

OK.....i have copied 3 libraries across (68060,68040,68040new).......both jumpers are set to EXT

Brilliant !..............its working !..........Thanks All !

What is the 68040new.library for ?

If you change to a 040 card, it will work straight without software updates.
