I have a question: a new iteration of Daemon Tools Advanced Edition with IDE virtual drive has been released. Now, would this emulate CDDA (musical CD tracks on AmigaCD) correctly or not?

I am sorry if this is a noobie question, I don't know much about this particular topic.

Sorry, my mistake. I was still talking about "add directory", not "add harddrive". "Add harddrive" at least allows you to tick "read/write", "add directory" doesn't, it's greyed out. You first have to add the directory write protected and can then change the read/write switch in the properties. IMHO directories should be write-enabled by default or at least allow you to choose (like "add harddrive").

SuperHires explanation (second attempt):

SuperHires is 1280 horizontal pixels. If you enable superhires mode, you will get 1280 horizontal pixels. Always. Amiga native lores gets quadrupled, hires gets doubled. SuperHires is 1:1. It is always 1280 pixels. There is no dynamic resolution changes. (Remember that many games use hires and lores at the same time..)

You need to use filters to double vertical resolution (or you will get 2:1 aspect ratio) Normal line doubling is only 2x. (filters work in next beta)

For 1:1 shres display you need 1280x1024 PC host mode.

Shres is just for completeness, it is not useful for anything serious..

(it can be more or less than 1280 but lets not make it more complex..)

No.

btw, DT Pro IDE emulation currently is something like SCSI drive connected to IDE adapter. INQUIRY for example returns SCSI-style reply which also means WinUAE detects DT IDE drives as SCSI. I already reported this.

Yes, it should be enabled and ticked by default. It broke when I merged archive file support (archives are always read-only)

Beta 6:

- do not call CD32 CD emulation handler when non-CD controller Akiko registers are accessed. Fixes slowdown when program uses C2P feature of Akiko (Wing Commander CD32, perhaps others)
- debugger ea command AGA genlock color bit support
- smc command added to debugger help
- Ghostscript and neroaspi registry detection didn't work without admin privileges
- directory harddrive read/write status and volume name change work again on the fly
- directory harddrive eject-button works again
- directory harddrive readwrite checkbox is not disabled anymore if no path entered
- filter superhires support
- ECS Denise hires sprite support removed, hires/shres sprite support is not compatible with OCS ham modes (and who needs ECS hires sprites when AGA is much better choice..)

Untick autoresolution checkbox in filters panel. As I have said some time ago, it does not exists

(will be "fixed" in next beta, thanks for reporting)

My old demo Tenebra/bsd use it...
and now the sprite background in the textured cube/pyramid part,
is all visible.

i'm happy now

anyway i've noticed some bug in that part in centering sprites...

Is this supported on real Amigas, or was an emulator only feature?

Yes but feature isn't really "removed", it just shows hires sprites downscaled to lores (every other pixel removed, just like in every previous UAE version)

"Nobody" uses ECS SuperHires mode anyway because it allows max 4 colors (from limited palette) and is extremely slow

Beta 7:

- added information text to hardfile panel.
* RDB hardfile: size of selected file, first 4 bytes of data.
* Regular hardfile: cylinders (warns if > 65535, OS3.5+ only), blocks, current size and total size of hardfile, first 4 bytes of data.
- analog joystick mouse emulation didn't "repeat"
- graphics garbage in right border fixed (happened for example when productivity mode with vgaonly was enabled)
- CDTV CD ROM command 0x83 emulated, returns drive name/version string ("MATSHITA0.97", also "MATSHITA0.96" exists. No idea if there are any real differences). Another quite pointless feature because CDTV's driver does not use command 0x83..
- ECS superhires sprite positioning fixed. Note that ECS shres sprites always have halved resolution (not size) due to emulation limitation
- ECS superhires "palette scrambling" emulated, ECS shres colors should be now 100% correct
- some doublescan emulation tweaks

EDIT: AGA sprite scan doubling is broken in this beta..

One thing is fixed, and in the same time one that worked before, gets broken..
Amiga system is very very hard to emulate well in all his video parts.

Do you mean sprite doublescanning? It was "brown paper bag"-bug by me..
