RoboCop 3 (US)[0978] high score

fiath,

Your PM is full, so I'll post my question here.

I noticed that the high score screen seemed to be modified as the entries differ from the other two versions.

FYI, a quick way to reach the high score screen is to select any game then press ESC after the game starts.

I have to ask if this was on the master (since it seems out of place)?

Thanks

That's interesting. However, it is easy to see when a disk has been modified, so I doubt one was missed. Hmm, just checked and looks okay to me. Probably IFW has a better idea, I'll ask.

Surely it wasn't mastered with that dodgy-ass highscore table!

Still stranger things have happened in the world

If this is the budget release it doesn't have the dongle protection

I think Ocean removed the dongle shortly after it was cracked. expensive exercise and all!

The buget version has a password protection. I am able to bypass the password check by jumping to the starting addr. I think this disk could also be loaded using the cracked versions as well.

i still dont get it.

the version you listed is the retail US version.

i tried to load it into WinUAE and it just resets, anyone got a config file for this, or is it resetting due to missing dongle?

and what do you mean about cracks versions? surely they arent in any part of the equation here.

It resets probably because you don't have NTSC enabled (copy protection). If you hit that video mode check, you should see a purple screen before the guru/reset. I used an A500 setting w/ KS1.2, 512C, 512S.

I mentioned the crack versions as means to load the Disk 3 ipf where the high score data is at (for anyone who wants to bypass the password check w/o manuals).

Re-checked: the disks were duped the way they are - none of them have been modified.
Somebody played with the masters before duping...

It is as original as it ever gets, but somebody probably played it before duplication or they had been sent a used disk for mastering...
