Try NTSC mode WHDLoad version (they fixed NTSC music and other things like IK+ shield): Normal mode is perfectly smooth there (too slow in PAL where Switft was better, I agree) and gfx is better proportioned (not vertically squashed). NTSC was the way meant to be played.
