For Sale: Amiga 4000 with Video Toaster 4000
I'm going to post this here and some other Amiga forums before it goes on Ebay. It will be cheaper here for obvious reasons.
For sale Amiga 4000 with 68040 25MHz CPU, with Video Toaster 4000 board, 2.1GB Hard Drive, 3.0 ROMs and ClassicWB OS installed. Comes with A4000 books (some are yellowed), floppy disks (tested working), and Video Toaster manual (cover is stained). The CPU card has new capacitors installed. The power supply has a "newer" internals, it was swapped from a PC power supply about 15 years ago, maybe more. Below are some flaws I could find: The power button on the power supply (internally) is shorter than it should be. Power supply rod easily pops off when the case is open. The clips on one of the SIMM socket are broken, and the memory module is held by a putty. Works fine. Needs a new SIMM socket. Battery was removed before it could do a significant damage. See pictures. Missing CPU standoffs, it means the CPU card is not screw in securely to the motherboard. I was able to 3D print those. There is some discoloration on the front face and the keyboard. The keyboard's space bar is loose a bit, do to broken piece under the space-bar. Works fine. The floppy drive is not A4000 original, it came from an external drive, so the color is different. Works very well. There is a broken screw behind the face plate. The caddy that holds the CDROM and floppy drive is held by one screw, should be 2. (the screw was broken when I try to remove it, it was pretty tight). Joystick port is bent a little. Case has scuff marks all around, not perfect. Amiga mouse has worn off Amiga Logo. The A4000 is stable, was able to do few hour renderings in Lightwave. Play some Doom, run Shapeshifter etc. I'm not sure how much to ask, but some prices on Ebay are crazy good. Some are more than $2k. P.S. I was checking Amiga's functionality and found that the audio was not working. I was able to fix it by replacing an audio amp and some SMD caps and resistors. Previous owner did some fixing and put wrong value resistor and one cap was missing. TBH, I forgot that audio was bad, or I never checked. I checked the serial port with MIDI adapter and a piano. I checked external floppy drive, loads floppies fine. I checked parallel port with sound digitizer and Octamed, samples fine. The system is solid, no guru or random crash. Played some Doom, Descent, etc. Last edited by amiman99; 15 May 2020 at 20:01. Reason: add some more info |

Hello,
How much are you asking as I don't see a price? |

$2000 with Paypal, but $1900 cash, or Western Union, Paypal Friends and Family, or personal check that needs to clear for a week or so.
I was doing a 100% check on the system and I found out that the sound is not good. Looks like amp is blown. LM833. I have good sound before the chip, but very weak after it. I'm pretty sure caps are OK. I did not noticed the problem before, because I don't play music or games on it. I have A1200 for that. So, the sale is on hold until I fix the issue. |

I fixed the audio problem. I was able to find the audio amplifier locally, probably not need it. I also replaced wrong resistor and missing SMD capacitor. Looks like previous owner was replacing some stuff.
System is solid now. |

Does it have a NewTek Flyer card? Can you share some screen shots of the Video Toaster 4000 booted up please?

No, It's not for sale as of now.
I'll keep it for now, unless I find something else I want. (The car I wanted sold before I could sell the A4000) |
