NPCap not working

Testing with WinUAE 4.4 and 4.5. I can do a2065 networking with host nic using win10pcap or winpcap (6 year old ndis 5) but the newer NPCap 1.10 does not work. Tested on both Win10 and Server 2012R2. Emulated Amiga is 3.9 with a2065, genesis TCP stack and C-Net BBS (online for ~3 years).

Discovered this after changing pcap driver to npcap which wireshark uses. Amiga networking stopped. Uninstalled npcap and reinstalled win10pcap and it works again.

Any suggestions or fixes?

I just use the bsdsocket.library for the network "interface" on my virtual Amiga, so I'm not entirely sure what you're doing Amiga side.

However, Wireshark comes with an older versin of Npcap, so what if you use the latest Npcap 1.31 available from here: https://nmap.org/npcap/

I'm not suggesting it will fix your problem, but it's probably a good place to start.

Perhaps number of network devices changed and unit number is now wrong?

Check the log. (misc -> create winuaelog.txt log or -log command line parameter)

Detection seems to work fine:

Code:
uaenet: Npcap version 1.31, based on libpcap version 1.10.1-PRE-GIT
uaenet: detecting interfaces
rpcap://\Device\NPF_{F82DDFCA-D824-41D2-9F36-667123D880F0}
- Network adapter 'WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)' on local host
...

So after some comparison between the log file and the config file I found an interesting difference. After changing from win10pcap to npcap, there is a missing "\Device\NPF_" that is not added in the config file. see comparison of entire line below. After manually adding in the missing part and restarting WinUAE, it worked.

Original
a2065_rom_options=mac=,rpcap://{B122A3EC-3DBF-4560-BF32-F4474ADD8D27}

With NPCAP
a2065_rom_options=mac=,rpcap://\Device\NPF_{B122A3EC-3DBF-4560-BF32-F4474ADD8D27}

There is not much WinUAE can do when host identifiers change but there is also no need to change config file manually:

Expansions -> Network adapters -> A2065 -> network mode -> select correct entry.

that's the problem. There were none listed. All I had was the mac (x.x.x.x) entry.

Did you click "MAC (xx:..)"? It is menu, not a plain button. (Second entry should be "Network mode")
