Also has anybody got tips about outlining sprites etc and defining them from the backgrounds? I read about anti aliasing and of course using black , dark purple etc?
I am using dawnbringer 32's palette currently. |

This thread would be better suited under either of the following, instead of Amiga scene:

Small sprites- no outlining except if sprite color will clash badly with background color somewhere (similar hue- brightness) Small sprites- don't put too much detail (useless), small dots will pop on small sprites. Outlining is best with a darker same/similar hue color. Outlining-yes to separate parts of sprite (e.g. hand, leg etc) if colors are too similar. PS db32 is too complicated for inexperienced, better switch to db16. |

Also I guess 320 X 240 backgrounds should be ok in red pill?

Look at this, pro work, Day of the Tentacle, huge sprites, notice the outlines also that lines define shapes and there are no highlights on comic style sprites.

Interesting- more than one colour used for outlining some sprites and colours that match the tones of the sprite when possible.

Nope.
Don't have enough free time these days... But I have some projects "in the drawer" waiting, currently, or better say, ideas for the projects. Unfortunately, some of these heavily exceeds my knowledge on the RedPill, so I need to invest many hours in learning. ------------------- Btw, I am not sure that using predefined palette is a good idea, no matter how popular or awesome it is. Wouldn't all games look the same? But then again, I guess it's perfectly Ok, using it while you learning, and focused on other stuff. |
