Thalion Music Remakes

In 1992/1993 I composed the soundtrack for some Thalion Games (Lionheart, Ambermoon, A 320, No Second Prize etc.). I've been working on remakes of the old tracks for a while now. You can hear the first drafts here:

Well then you will find some fans on this board because both Lionheart and Ambermoon are pretty much idolized.

I have always admired your and your colleagues' work, Lionheart and Ambermoon are certainly among the very best Amiga games. When I clicked on your soundcloud link I already had the Lionheart intro music in my head and then your remade version started to play...

Hi Matthias and welcome to EAB

Very cool to hear HQ versions of the tracks. Looking forward to how they will sound when you consider them done.

Matthias, there are fan remakes of both Lionheart and Ambermoon in the works. I'm pretty sure their authors would be extremely happy to be able to incorporate updated music.

I have some tracks on old floppy disks. But they have to be made readable again bit by bit. Work in progress, but it will take a while.

So glad to hear about this. Matthias, "some Thalion Games" are amongst the most best-loved and remembered both visually and musically.

Your remakes are bloody amazing.

It will be nice. I like Your Sonic Arranger musics from Lion Heart and AmberMoon. If You have problems with floppy disks data, then perhaps dlfrsilver can help You? He is expert fo restoring data from old disks.

BTW. Do You know if exist any other version of this game, than only 1 disk DEMO ?

Unfortunately, no. As far as I can remember the Amiga version was never finished, there is only a PC version.

Thank you for your kind offer. But I've already found someone who is also an expert at restoring old floppy disks (thanks, Frank! ). He has already been able to save some of my old "treasures". For example, my old soundtrack drafts for a project called "Rage" for the Amiga, which was supposed to be released by Thalion in 1992 (it was developed externally), but was then discontinued for whatever reason. Yes, it's been a long time :-)

What surprised me was Non of the Thalion people could remember it even when they saw the contract.

Which is surprising because lots of them remember Australian Pioneers, another Thalion game where it was never completed except for the Novella and the music.

I don't find that surprising: it was a project that was developed externally, so the developers and employees at Thalion had nothing to do with it. At that time, I made notes on my phone calls to keep track of all the orders in the early 1990s. So I know that (and when) I had received the order from Thalion at that time (intro, extro, each 170 KB, plus five ongame songs, each 70 KB), and the fee had also been agreed. It is also certain that I had called the developer several times (his name was Klemens Höppner, according to my notes). The soundtracks were finally finished. The project dragged on for a good year, from the fall of 1991 to the fall of 1992, then it disappeared from the scene and my notes. I can't remember why nothing came of it. All I have left is the soundtrack drafts, some pictures (that the developer sent me) and my notes. A strange story. Which I had already forgotten until I found my notes and Frank recovered my disks :-)
