Dragons Breath
Ignore the old Dragons Breath thread, its full of too much shit that talks about other things, so from now on, all matters Dragons Breath will be discussed here.
Update: Dragons Breath now boots in WinUAE The STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID encrypted boot code routine has been decoded of its STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID protection. Its annoying, because the rest of the game is very well coded, yet the tiny piece of code to get the game going.... well, having studied it closely, I am utterly amazed it worked at all on an A5oo let alone faster processors. I Toni will have wanted to have WinUAE get around this protection, but seeing as WinUAE isn't currently designed to bypass copy protection, in the natural course of cracking, this routine by some would have been decrypted to crack the game (however I originally didn't as I simply patched the OS in the bootblock to crack the game, thus bypassing the encryption). So, work is now progressing on making it work for WHDLoad, once it is done (hopefully no serious problems), then it should be ready soon. Things to note: 1). Once done, I will provide disk images on my own webspace 2). I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT TO EVER HEAR THAT SOMEONE IS TRYING TO USE THE TRILOGY 'CRACK' WITH MY VERSION..... GO AND USE THE MONKEY ISLAND DISKS WITH IT, THEY'D BE MORE BLOODY RELEVANT!!!!! I will keep you all updated via THIS THREAD |

Nice
But can I just ask, surely the disk protection is not that bad since it was not properly cracked until (nearly) now? What I am saying is that perhaps it was bad on purpose!? |

You misunderstand
The disk protection and document check are long since laid to rest, they were easy enough to remove, hence why I'm surprised Trilogy couldn't do it!
The tiny boot routine was encrypted, and when I actually get around to releasing the WHDLoad version, I will document the encryption routine and show you just how stupid it was!! Believe me, you will weep when you see it, hence I have had to include the decrypted boot in the WHDLoad slave, because WHDLoad simply won't allow it to decrypt, because its that stupidly coded. Makes Tearaway Thomas look like the work of a genius!!! |

MMU? I wouldn't call that an emulation milestone personally - not from a games player perspective anyway...
What would it give you? This is really a question - I can't think of anything... |

WHDLoad
Dragons Breath now also boots up in WHDLoad
The stupid buggy disk code won't allow it to accept disk two at the moment, I keep getting Access Faults in the Kickstart, but I simply think this is more to do with Dragons Breath using features of the Kickstart that hasn't been patched by other people which is why it bugs out. But for the moment, things are looking good. If I can nail this disk bug, then there is a chance it will then be smooth sailing. My deprotection patch also worked first time, just got to see if it will activate properly in the game. But for the moment folks, WHDLoad Dragons Breath and WINUAE Dragons Breath are looking good. |

Well, well, well
Dragons Breath disk swap problem..... is no longer a problem
The game is now running under WHDLoad :P :P Even with caches switched off, it runs VERY fast in CPU Game mode. Currently, Dragons Breath has been playing itself a 3 player CPU game, and has been running for half an hour and no bugs! All I have to do now is sort out the save disk routines which will no doubt bring in another disk swap nightmare... but hey! Thats life!!! All copy protection removed, all disk acceses removed...... I can't believe its nearly over! :hoo |

Continued....
Dragons Breath played itself on 3 player CPU game to completion
No bugs reported at all. Working on the save game part which I may or may not complete and do later, but I will see if I can get it done. To also reduce the risk of idiots using the Trilogy version, I also intend to host the images on my webspace so that there are no excuses for it not being loaded properly. These images will also be runnable on real Amiga and WinUAE. I'll be glad when this bloody thing is done.... Anyone wanna buy a Dragons Breath original??? |
