Archive of all versions of all slaves?
I am looking for Jim Power slave v1.0. WHDLoad.de only hs the latest version 1.1. I hope there’s an archive somewhere of all older versions?

I found some old slaves here: http://www.whdload.de/whdload/old-games/
Couldn't find Jim Power v1.0 though. |

Hey rsn,
No luck with v1 l.0 have you asked Retroplay? All I see is this one beside 1.1 /Commodore_Amiga/Retroplay/Commodore_Amiga_-_JST_-_Games/J/JimPower_v0.9_0068_JST.lha |

I was just wondering “maybe older versions run faster in uae4all2 or Amiberry”. I tried JST, but same speed.

I think that is very unlikely. Updated slaves usually just contain new features and/or improves compatibility with more platforms, e.g. by changing the number of copper-waits. The general performance is still governed by the base game code which is 99% original.

Mr Larmer's Jim Power v1 slave
I have Mr Larmer's original source for v1 so I've re-assembled that. It's "functionally identical" to v1, but because it's been assembled with Barfly rather than Devpac and the BLITWAIT macro may have changed over time, it might be slightly different. Source and slave attached.

as said above, it's unlikely to run faster. It's true that sometimes adding blitter waits for fast machines slows down execution on machines that don't need blitwaits (like SOTB slave, where blitwaits can be disabled)

Can't find Jim Power slave 2.2 to test without blitterwaits on 060 where the current slave 3.0(b) causes crackles and parallax jumping in intro/menu on WinUAE 4.9.1 even with cycle exact... Runs fine in QuickStart A500 from IPFs.
