New Amiga 1200 Compact Flash CF IDE Back Plate Adapter www.amigakit.com

We have recently had numerous customer requests for an Amiga 1200 Compact Flash CF IDE Back Plate Adapter, so we are pleased to announce its availability.

If you want to easily install or remove your compact flash hard drive on your A1200 without the incovenience of opening the A1200 every time, then this adapter with back plate will help.

Features:
- Amiga 1200 back plate for rear trapdoor with compact flash card slot cut-out.
- Long 44-way IDE cable to reach from the rear trapdoor to internal IDE socket
- Additional IDE connector for connecting another compatible 44-way IDE device.

Installation:
The provided IDE cable plugs on to the standard 44-way internal A1200 IDE header and laid flat across the shielding, passing underneath the floppy drive to the rear trapdoor. Backplate is secured in the rear space underneath the floppy drive.

Contents of kit:
- 1x IDE CF 44-way adapter
- 1x Plastic rear trapdoor back plate with Compact Flash cut-out
- 1x Long IDE cable 44-way with 3x 44-way connectors

Nice, but can you use 2 IDE devices at the same time on a vanilla 1200 without a buffered interface? Not possible IIRC.

You can use HDD and CDROM on same cable under scsi device. That was one test and with this cable, two CF cards were tested.

Sorry, but I think it looks to be of poor quality like the last backplate you had manufactured. Wrong colour and doesn't fit well.

For what you are asking I can't help but think that a better product is warranted.

How best does one do this? I tried doing this but the amiga only see one hdd. I tried swapping the jumps so one was slave and the other master but still no luck.

OK, i'm not sure if it's 'ok' to bump this very old thread, but i might have a direct answer to your enquiry. I'm trying to research the same thing at the moment - perhaps this will work?

@Derek

Have you considered our buffered IDE interface. This is a safer way of connecting than the one you linked to.

Im just about to upgrade my 1200 to 3.2.
What is the point of the 2nd connection on the cable if the amiga isnt buffered? Is this potentially dangerous for data reliability?
