Blessed with some incredible Amiga ports lately so been rotating those around since xmas.

In the mainstream gaming world, Icarus. One of the best co-op survival games I have ever played. A forest fire is a sight to behold and induces major panic when its near your camp!

Yes, the second one is a lot bigger and to me that makes it more of a generic horror experience rather than that orchestrated tunnel of terror that a devious game director built for you. It is what Dark Souls 2 was to Dark Souls 1, essentially. I'm sure if I gave it more time just like Dark Souls 2 it would have eventually grown on me, but... for a horror game I just don't want to make that kind of investment.

Over weekend I had bit of retro-sessions...

* Centipede (surprised myself going through multiple levels and close to 90k points)

Galaga

And also installed and played some Maniac Mansion in RecalBox on RPi 400.

After some discussions here, on Minimig profile for A500+ with HD installed Colonization and Battle Island and tried them a bit. Still love those 2 games and gives me some nostalgia playing them on Amiga. Now I remember why I had TV close to Amiga, to watch something while enemy has turn in Colonization...

It is sad that MSX had much better support and ports than Speccy, CPC464 or C64, but somehow they did get good share of market in Europe and seemed completely absent from USA market.

The MSX did something here in the Netherlands though, I knew more people that had an MSX than a Commodore 64. I don't really care about ports, the machine has a glorious library of titles unique to it.

I installed and played all 4 of them - and they are really good games, well playable and enjoyable. It took me some time to finish first stage of Road Fighter and did at least one level on all of them. Thank you for sharing list.

Any other gems you can remember form MSX?

Yeah Road Fighter has a trick, if you get into a slip you can get out of it. I don't know the exact trick anymore, I remember it was something that goes against your instinct. Maybe to actually press in the direction that you are slipping towards?

Yes there are many more excellent MSX games in my brain, especially MSX2. BUT... I don't remember the names

Serious Sam 2. Because to my surprise, they did a giant patch on that last year. Unexpected for an older title that is not exactly a very well-liked entry (which I can sort of relate to, that game breaks my hands due to its insane length).

Still mostly playing Kick Off 2 online (addicted much?) but comp pro faltering - got a 2nd hand one on Ebay, all works but stiff as hell!

Also downloaded Sensible Soccer 20/21. KO2 still my love but this is mightily impressive with downloadable crowd chants, latest squads, different stadiums and can choose a limited commentary. Top marks

Other than that still need to finish Space Quest 6. proper slog, others were much more enjoyable

Yes as I expected. Space Quest only works with the two guys from Andromeda behind it. SQ 1-5 were a labour of love, SQ6 was basically... a Sierra sequel.

The original devs are working on a spiritual successor called SpaceVenture.

Good that I am not only one playing adventure games.

A bit over half done with Maniac Mansion replay and will play Zak McKracken after that. (both Amiga versions) Last adventures I played on Amiga in 90s was Simon The Sorcerer. Might play that one in English, since first time I played it in German.

I will write a review of RecalBox and probably comparison to MiSTer FPGA and other emulation setups.

Did you play Simon 2? God I love that game. There is something endearing about the slow animation style and the VGA graphics have this weird glowing warmth to them. Tough as concrete though, some of the puzzles are a little out there.

That Space Venture Kickstarter, think it's been going over 10 years lol. Would be peed off if put money into that.

Yeah SQ6 just not much fun to play and don't like the graphics either. Old style much more preferable.

Heard good things about the Darkside Detective, but was just too simple and didn't really grab me and didn't like the humour.

Zak....man that game, doubt would complete it without a walkthrough. Rock solid. Remember when I played through it with one, thought to myself I would never have done it without one.

Will need to start on a new adventure soon after going through the Larry ones although not done the 2 recent Wet Dreams ones. Larry 2 and 3 were really enjoyable playing them again, that feeling of exploration, love it.

Did the Tex Murphy ones recently too which are some of the best ever for me.

Will have to have a mooch on what to play next. Maybe wrong but Kings Quest never seems to appeal to me.
