Found: Deneb Zorro II/III DMA USB Controller

Looking for a fully functional, known good Deneb USB controller with manual and cables for use in an Amiga 3000

Disregard…. Found one.

They don't make them anymore. Lots were broken due to incorrectly connecting the USB extension cable the wrong way round. Hence they are very sought after and hence very expensive.

If you need high speed USB you might be better off looking for a Mediator 3000Di MK-III and a Spider PCI USB card (or a clone).

Mediator 3000Di's are no longer made either but they are probably less rare or sort after than a Deneb?

A better alternatively is the readily available Freeway Pro. You can get them on A1K forum.

They have the flashrom, same as Deneb albeit smaller, and still use Luciferin for programming.

They have the usb hub, same as Deneb albeit usb 1 not 2, and still use Poseidon for the stack.

Think of it as Deneb-lite; it’s broadly functionally the same and 1/5th the price. You do compromise in terms of speed, flashrom size and no dma, but at least you can buy them

Or another alternative to save on Zorro slots. X-Surf100 with RapidRoad USB module.
Fast 100Mbit Network card with USB in one.

Make sure you don’t plug anything into the rapidroad when the machine’s turned on though, it’ll blow up. And it’ll be your power supply’s fault.

That’s true on the Clockport 1200 and 600 version as they need a 5V floppy connection and thus you need a powered USB hub.

On the X-Surf100 the power given to the RapidRoad is via the connector off the X-Surf. But it is still advisable to use a powered USB hub.

I considered the X-surf 100, but can never locate a RapidRoad module to go with it.
