Using rev 8 chips on a 6a board?

Hi all
I’ve got an A500 plus with a rev 8a board which may be beyond repair, the battery leak has mushed a large chunk of board.
The chips however are good so I bought a cheap unpopulated Rev 6a A500 board, could someone tell me or point me in the right direction for if any of the chips won’t work on the older board.
It’s only the socketed chips missing, the ram and the logic chips are still present.
Thanks for any advice!

From what I understand, Gary might not be too happy being relocated.
He can be kind of a jerk.

Every other chip fits directly, but the Agnus has a different pinout. The Rev6 board can be adapted.

Cool, thanks for that so i'll either have to source a compatible Agnus or mod away.

Maybe there is a 2MB chip ram thingie for the 6a that will accept the the agnus from the 8a? then you hit two birds with one stone.

Yeah, I had a quick look for something like that but came up short.
I did find a thread about using the a3000 Agnus for 2mb support, but they are much rarer.
I'd be tempted to make up an adapter, but plcc sockets are hard enough to come by, let alone a male type. Guess i'm just going to have to source a compatible Agnus, not many on ebay at the moment though.

Although I say they are hard to find, and then I find them... I wonder if theres a demand for this, I don't think it would take much to make an adapter...

Well at £15 for the plug, plus a socket, plus a board, unless theres a bunch of people really desperate to upgrade thier rev6 to 2mb chip ram using a a500 plus agnus, is cheaper just to buy a original agnus.

There is a way to use that Agnus in Rev6 and have 2MB Chip - http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...project-Poland)

If you're not into it, and want to buy a fitting Agnus, I might be interested in buying yours for a fair prize

Interesting! Thanks for that. I'll bear you in mind if I end up with one spare
