Unhappy XBox 360 pad and WinUAE

Hi Guys,

I'm using an XBox360 controller with WinUAE and have no problem using the left analogue stick as a 'digital' joystick in WinUAE. However, this feels really wierd to use, so I'd like to use the d-pad (which *!£$%* windows recognises as a POV hat) as the joystick.

BUT I can't seem to figure out (on the Inputs settings tab) how to get this to happen. I'm probably just being thick , but anyone know how to get this working?

Thanks,

Aljrob

use the input prefs instead of game io page. assign joy 2 buttons to relevent 360 buttons. and tick the box in top right. should work.

Input panel:

Hat Switch (1) -> Joy2 Horizontal
Hat Switch (2) -> Joy2 Vertical

Also make sure checkbox next to the "XBOX 360 For Windows (Controller)" is ticked.

I'll think about mapping "POV Hat" to joy up/left/down/right by default...

Wow

Really quick response, thanks guys!!! I'll try this tonight (at work at the mo'!)

Many thanks!

Regards,

Al

PS - Toni: much respect for the awesome work on WinUAE - I can't tell you how much fun I'm having playing all my old Amiga favourites, haven't played most of them since the mid 90s - great work

I've only heard bad things so far about the offical M$ 360 controller driver.
I myself is using an Xbox Controller S with Redcloud's XBCD which is modified to support the 360 controller aswell.
Highly recommended over the official driver.

the only difference is that xbcd supports rumble and deadzones vs the 360 driver. the deadzone support is deffinatly welcome, but the rumble doesnt work properly ;/ . rumbled when stick is moved as apposed to whats going on inthe game

still, a psx pad and adaptor are far more compatable with pc games/apps then a 360 pad regardles of driver.

I have not had any issues regarding rumble but then again I'm using a Controller S and not a 360.
I have a PS Dualshock controller connected aswell but hardly ever use it.

I just wanted to congratulate Toni Wilen on a job well done. In particular regarding WinUAEs support for xbox 360 controllers. I found with the current version at time of writing this, WinUAE 3.0.0 (2014.12.17) made it as simple as can be to use my wired xbox 360 controller as a CD32 controller. Well done!

That feature has only used 1% of Toni's brain.
