Great! Will fix my A604n tonight. Guess I was a bit too impatient rigging my elbox expansion. Oh well, now I have an indivision capable expansion spare :P

Edit: I can confirm the removal of c4 works like a treat. C4 is an explosive we dont want there anyway ;-)

The true hardcore part about your screenshot is the fact that you're using 1.3 colour scheme on a 3.something Workbench ;-)

A604n broken components?

Hi everyone

This (and an ECS) was my first purchase from Individual computers. I put the board in last night, but was also greeted by the black screen. I first thought it was this issue (I have an Amiga 300 rev 1) but then I checked the A04n board and noticed one of the capacitors(?) is missing (c8). It kind of looks like the solder wasn't on the joint when it was assembled? Then I looked inside the anti-static bag and found the capacitor. Any suggestions? Can this be attached? I'm not a great solderer to be honest, not sure I trust my skills. Not super happy...

Send it back to the dealer and get it exchanged to a new one since it's obviously faulty. If you try to solder the cap in yourself then in worst case scenario it won't work and you will lose your warranty.

Perhaps you could also ask the dealer if they could de-solder C4 for you also when they ship the new unit? I mean it should not be responsibility of the customer to do it. It's a bit weird Amigakit won't mention A300 on their pages...

Edit: Of course if you like to take risks and won't care about warranty, you could try to solder C8 in and C4 out yourself. It's quite easy actually especially since C8 is in "easy" place.

Jarp, took your advice and risked it. I'm in Australia so returning to Amigakit would've taken ages. Soldered C8 on with two globs, and took off C4. It all works now. I guess I've risked my warranty, but it basically didn't work in the first place, so what can you do?

Well done! I know what you mean, it takes even longer for things to arrive here, and I'm only just over Bass straight, which seems to add another 2-3 days, in addition to weeks from anywhere in Europe.

Good job and great it worked well! I can totally understand frustration for waiting a new unit from the Europe... It's the same whenever I've ordered something from the Australia (namely Akubra fedoras, aussie hats are the best)...

I just purchased this card as as expected it didn't work with my A300 board. I removed the C4 capacitor and now it's working as it should.
