When you were in the thieves guild, did you complete the "test of thieves" ?
Did you go to the bandit camp and retrieve the firebrand sword ?
(those two are places where you can get more lock picks)

Anyway I suggest you save before attempting to pick an unknown lock, because if it fails you lose a lockpick nevertheless.

@Telegattone

Many thanks, for nice tip !

However, it happened I alreay found the triangular stone key from the bush, by accident... And so on I found sylph woman and got the password.. :-))

@meynaf

Sure, I've found the bandit's house.. I killed every bandit I found, but didn't find anything firebrand sword.. so, more specifically, where is that special (?) sword hidden..? Do I need any lock picks to access it..? :-/

I think, it would be very annoying to start completely new game, however, even If I don't have any lock picks, because my characters (three) are quite experienced already and I've plenty of gold etc...

What do you think, do I necessarily still need some lock picks to get away from Spannenberg...? (to Burnville, for example..? ) :-/

Climb the stairs to the right and you will find more bandits (if not already done). Go at the bottom-left of the room, there should be a chest here. You may try to break the lock, if successful then you have new lockpicks.

Don't worry for experience and gold, there are plenty in the game !
However if you don't want to start over, then it becomes sort of a new challenge...

What you need to quit the island is either :
a) save Sally by going into the temple of Gala
b) get a lot of healing potions and swim to the next island...

This game looks kickass! I can't believe I haven't tried this game before, I'll definitely try it out soon!

One question - I understand this is a sequel? Is it necessary to play the first game first in order to understand the storyline?

It isn't necessary to play the first game (i.e. Amberstar) to understand the storyline of this one. In fact it wouldn't help a lot either.
But I suggest you play it too, simply because it's a good game too (perhaps a little bit more difficult).

There are a lot of storyline crossovers, including questions you'd never get (immediately) unless you'd played Amberstar. Names of cats etc.

You'd understand the Relationship between Tarbos and other characters, races etc. much better if you played Amberstar. But you might get away with just reading the Amberstar and Ambermoon Novella's before playing.

That said, Ambermoon is a much prettier game than Amberstar.

The only thing wrong with these two games is the combat scenes. At normal speed they are just too slow. (Shame WinUAE doesnt have a FF button like STeem) The combat is a traditional turn based attack, akin to the attacks in Paper Mario if you know that game.

If you like RPG's, and dont mind the turn based attacks, Amberstar and Ambermoon are two of the best on the Amiga.

The stories and the character definition are second to non.

If you set out to play Ambermoon, just take note of where the bugs are in the unpatched game (there are about 4 of them which can crash the game, which is a pain if you have not saved).

And when you are finished, there is ALBION on the PC

WinUAE for many releases now has increase/decrease emulation speed and warp speed (max based on your host computer).

All you have to do is to assign buttons for that functions.

(I usually add a button on gamepad for warp speed, as that works great at load time as well )

Then either train someone else as a thief or try to find another one. I can tell you there is.

This is a big spoiler... but if you've not already done it you should go straight to Gemstone and recruit Drobinair the Dwarf. Without him in your party. It's no fun.

Hehe yeah do that. I think i had trained Gryban to nearly every class during various plays. I like him most as a white magician.
Btw. Silk is a really good paladin if you train him.

Uarg, i just Registered to ask a few questions. This is a great forum btw, good to see that there are people around who love the same games from the past that i do.

So:

Im stuck at the Forrest-Moon, close to the machine where you should be able to create the navstone for the lizard-planet.

I just found the ancient book and dont know what i should do with that.
The walktrough tells something about using the teleporters there till i find the correct room but i did that for hours and found nothing. except tons of robots which i am bored to fight anymore. any suggestions would be great

oh, after visiting the thalon office i saw a "magic painting". what is it supposed to do and where do i get it the correct way?

i allready say "thank you"

The Yellow carved disc can be found on the same level as the machine. There is a door at [9,17](W) that is coded by a blue triangle (100). Open the door and enter. There are three strongboxes in the wall to the south. They hold coloured carved discs, open [14,18](S) for yellow discs, [16,18](S) for green disks and [18,18](S) for blue disks. You will need a single yellow disc only.

You need to use the machine to create a Yellow Navstone. Place a yellow carved disc at [13,12], an amber stone at [15,12] and the yellow Navstone will appear at [16,10]

The Magic Painting you should get in Spannenberg right at the beginning. There is a Person wandering around the City Garden (just forgot the name ) who sell this picture. If i remember it correct it costs 5000 Gold.
