It would only make sense to refund everyone at this point and release it "when its ready". I have no idea how many preorders he accepted payments for but it is obvious that this is not going to end well.

Perhaps most of the money was already spent on hardware and thus there would not be much left to refund..

Yes, at least it is what he claims...
It is almost time to order a 3 years birthday cake in order to celebrate my stupidity in pay for advance for this thing... Payment date: 2013/6/25
Never again... there is a project to make an gfx for A2000 that is complete but the first batch is scheduled to July, I could get it cheaper if I pre-order now, but I have learned the lesson in the hard way... No payments in advance... better to pay more 50€ than loose all..

Unfortunately it is hard to do serious projects without some up front payments. But it will always be risky. The Vampire 2 is a good example of a project which would probably not have been realized if not for up front payments. It took about one year from when I did the payment until I received the device and it turned out great. But it could very well have died if the developers lost interest or was unable to finish it due to some major obstacle.

my last email from dezz 20/07/17 fingers cross,

Hi,

There are some additional unplanned work on the Rev3, as well, in order to make Rev3 and Rev4 compatible, regarding AmigaOS interface and certain other functions, so that there can be one software set for both. It's about 1-2 weeks, then the revised Rev3's will be available.

Best regards,
dezz
