WinUAE 4.2.0 (and previous) CD audio tracks issue (uaenet.device bug?)
Hi Toni,
just bought a new external Blu-Ray player connected through USB C 3.0 to my laptop and noticed the emulation goes in slow-motion when playing (real physical) CD audio tracks in games like T-Zer0 CD... It can't be lack of power (see specs in signature: i7-8750H+GTX 1070 8GB, 32GB RAM 2666MHz). My previous laptop had internal Blu-Ray but these new thin ones removed it completely and the only chance is adding external drive USB A/USB C connected… Tested also with old winuae64_4100b1 and winuae64_4200b1 but was still reproducible Attached full logs: https://ufile.io/85z0lpc7 My WinUAE cfg: https://ufile.io/btxu7h9g Last edited by hexaae; 21 April 2019 at 21:02. |

Nevermind… Ignore this ATM: looks like a software issue on my AmigaOS side. Have to investigate removing something from Startup-Sequence...

Ok, it's a bizarre bug:
it happens only when MiamiDX is running and using uaenet.device, configured as in picture: When I quit or put offline MiamiDx before starting T-0 then the speed is perfectly normal, no issue. When MiamiDX is online and I start the game I can see a huge slow-down and strange gfx errors (overlapping and flipping sprites etc.) on screen… Last edited by hexaae; 22 April 2019 at 19:51. |

I don't have a real Amiga to test… Is it normal behaviour or a uaenet.device emulation + MiamiDX issue?

Real Amiga does not have uaenet.device, impossible to confirm
If you use some hardware emulated NIC (instead of uaenet.device) does same happen? |

Tried to setup Expansions > Network adapter > and choose one but wasn't able to make it work through MiamiDX using ethernet.device/cnet.device, sorry I'm not expert in the networking area and forgot some details on how to configure MiamiDx…
EDIT: Tested with bsdsocket emu without MiamiDX and there is no slowdown. Need others to test with MiamiDX running Online, maybe it's just a bug with MiamiDX reproducible also on real Amigas? Last edited by hexaae; 26 April 2019 at 00:31. |

You should be able to use your existing uaenet.device miamidx config with only device name and possibly unit number changed (set it to zero).
A2065 + ethernet.device should be easiest option. Note that uaenet.device selects network "mode" using unit numbers, hardware emulated naturally can't do that and you need to use Expansion panel to select the mode (uaenet.device:0 = slirp, 1 = slirp+open ports, 2+ = winpcap) This test is needed to confirm if it is uaenet.device specific or if it is something larger. |

I've changed from MiamiDX: ethernet.device unit 0; and from WinUAE > Expansions: Netowrk adapters = A2065, Network mode = SLIRP User Mode NAT... (uaenet.device and bsdsocket.library disabled), but MiamiDX can't connect and HTTP requests keep going forever...

I've tested this with my A4000 UAE Config, and because I don't like the music from the CD at all I don't play the game that way (gotta be Rock'N'Roll for me..).
However, with uaescsi.device set in T-Zero's prefs when CD is mounted/inserted...and using WinUAE's bsdsocket (Not any need of MiamiDx then), or X-Surf 100 Z3 with my MiamiDx...the game plays smooth...and the ?music? is also fine (though I lower the volume, haha). I'll have a look at your config.. Edit 1: Change the Chipset to Chipset Extras: A1200. CD and Hard Drives: CDFS Automount CD/DVD drives. I'd also suggest using the QuickStart A1200 setup if you're really wanting an A1200 setup. Looks like you started making an A1200 "from scratch" settings. Should help stop the slowdown you typed about. Last edited by AC/DC HACKER!; 30 April 2019 at 23:51. |
