The Settlers tune, an EPIC tune
Does that awesome tune by Markus Kludzuweit rule or what?
After all these years of playing the game I just can't get enough of it, and listen to the tune itself from time to time. It's so different for it's time, it's way ahead of it's time! The first real game OST in one single tune. With all the different atmospheric tunes combined to a specific rhytm. Mmmmmmm... Lovely Here's a short message from the guy who originally ripped the mod: Quote:
For real mods ripped directly from the game check Wanted Team's site, or, again, Magix's FTP. Last edited by Shoonay; 10 March 2009 at 20:22. |

It's 12:24 actually, about 2 times longer then the PC one, but I know what you mean, it sounds *MUCH* longer. Last edited by Shoonay; 08 March 2009 at 15:58. |

Do you get some strange repetitions in some places? The mod I got had this trouble under ModPlugTracker/Player.
Could you up it? What player? Oh well, with iZotope oZone I still prefer the OGG'd version playing under my foobar with some extra surround effects and 5.1 support and stuff |

Cause that's where I got my OGG'd file, recorded directly from the game. Last edited by Shoonay; 08 March 2009 at 16:12. |

But did you guys listen to the entire tune?
Up to the moment when it end, and repeats from the beginning? Just checked the tune from exotica and it does the same thing in ModPlugTracker as the guy in my 1st posts says - slows down to a crawl, so that's the thing that makes it 30min long, lol |

Well, it's not meant to be played as a whole anyway A proper reedit would be to split the different 'subsongs'

Why? It was always a continous song, an anthem of the Settlers game so why it shouldn't?
Besides, a proper reedit was already made by the guy whom I quote in the 1s post and it does shit - go check for yourself how it drops/repeats some places. There's no good tune like the recorded directly from the game tune! |

Erm, you don't get the point it seems. He edited the module (which is ripped from the game) to play as a whole. In fact inside the module are all the tunes (except the intro tune) from the game. The different tunes are played ingame by starting at different patterns. I hope it's more clear now

Nope, I don't get why he would have to do so if the module plays just fine by itself.
And always did. He edited out some non-protracker-specific commands, this tune was always as "a whole". Of course those patterns exist, that how mod music looks like But indeed, that is not my point. I still stand by this: The original tune is played 12 mins 24 seconds. The ripped tunes you guys have slows down to a crawl that's why it's 30 mins. There. Now I hope everything is clear. |

Guess you got a point there Just fired the game up and listened to the tune. Indeed it's played as a whole and the are no subsongs or whatever Seems like they used a slightly modified replay routine in the game, so that it has this slowdowns with a standard ProTracker replay routine. My thought (which was awfully wrong ) was that these slowdowns mark the end of a subsong. My fault, you're right, friends again?

Is it just me or does my above posts sound like I'm obsessed a bit with this tune?
Well, I am, it's one hell of a great job on remixing all the different tunes to one huge OST! We always were TCD, you should know that fine by now. And because you didn't - I hate you! There. |
