great game... could play this without losing my first life... put this down to the fact I cdn't get past a certain jump on stage 30 or 31... kept hitting my head until I realised I could ease off on the up pressure and cut the length/height of my jump and slip in to the tunnel entrance...
after finishing the game I devoted the following months to trying to get the best score I could... deliberately dying in screens prior to large hidden crystal rooms... I remember achieving 89,000 or there abouts but never quite hitting 90,000 good luck |

I have always deplored this game.
Why would anyone play this, SM Bros. is far superior. |

If I remember correctly it's exactly the same as SMB 1. Cause SMB was never released on the Amiga Giana Sisters was very popular. I have played it on my C64 and than on the Amiga and really liked it. Later on when I played SMB with an emulator I recognized that Giana Sisters is a ripoff, but it's still a great game |

It is a matter of opinion, I suppose: there is no right or wrong.
Just less uninformed opinions: mine. I find the controls sluggish and the graphics/sounds characterless. And relatively speaking, it is not technically/artistically superior. (And the Amiga has better scrolling platformers than this shameless clone, in my opinion.) |

I think s2325 meant on the Amiga there was no game like it before 1988.

since everyone is voicing an opinion, i'm with oneshotdead - a shameless and awful clone , but i cant stand mario games either.
my favourite thing about this game is the cracktro - and i'm usually no fan of those either. |

Well, it's a clone, buit it is more difficult than Super Mario Bross and more fast: you have less time to end levels.

I like it, so I decided to add a poll
My vote reflects the fact I played it far more than any of the mario games, which I tired of quickly! |

It's one of the most overrated Amiga games, in my opinion...

Giana was cool on C64, definitely not on Amiga. I've never played Mario.
