CD32 Kickstart

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know if any of the newer versions of Amiga OS (up to and including 3.2.2) support the CD32?

AFAIK Hyperion support of CD32 is officially "Experimental", you can build your own ROM, but they don't supply one and they don't supply all the modules to build one, they do supply an exec module and all the matching A1200 modules but you'll need a CD32 extended ROM, and if you want to build one with workbench/icon it won't fit into 1Mb, you'll need to build a 2Mb ROM.

So, the answer is "in theory".

CD32 Kickstart

Like MikeyWikey said, you can create the cd32 3.2.x rom, although it is not officially supported.

Personally I tested only the 3.2, but the same method should work for the later 3.2.x. In my case I had to replace the 3.2 scsi.device with the 3.1.4 one, to let the TF boot on the CD32.

It was back in 2021, but I believe I used Remus and srec_cat to merge the two 512k roms with the specific cd32 interleave (afterwards, that interleave was added to the Eprom Hexxer tool)

Nowadays, we could use either Capitoline or Remus to create the two 512k roms and then complete the job with the Eprom Hexxer (unless the interleave is done by Capitoline itself).

Here some details: https://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p...2&postcount=28

Capitoline will save CD32 ROMs interleaved/byteswap/512k chunks (you have to select CD32 in the [Amiga Profile] tab), that said I've only tested the 1Mb ROMs, I need to get one of my CD32's back and try a 2Mb ROM sometime, if that works OK, I'll probably create a standard recipe/test that creates a standard 2Mb 3.2.2 ROM from the CD32 exec (no patching required!), CD32 extended ROM and 3.2.2 ADFs.

You dont to build your own rom, if you have riser with fast ram card.
You can simply use inbuilt rom update reboot. After reboot it updates modules. I have found however the default romupdate misses scsi.device and exec. I had to manually add them to loadmodule line, now my CD32 is running all updated modules and sees my whole 128GB SSD perfectly.

Just wish my ACA1221 would work with A1200<>CD32 adapter. So stuck with TF328 until they get PiStorm working on it.

Will do, when I'm next on my CD32. Just been busy of late.
