Hardrive showing on multiple ID's
Trying to install my Scsi hardrive in my 4000T,but for some strange reason it is showing up on all of the Scsi ID's in the HD Tool Box ?
Any ideas why this is happening ? |

Are you sure it really shows on all *IDs* and not rather on all *LUNs* ? It's a common problem that SCSI devices answer on requests on all possible LUNs. Sometimes it is caused by inaccurate SCSI termination but sometimes it is simply a bug in the device's firmware. You can reduce the number of LUNs and IDs checked by adjusting the tooltypes SCSI_MAX_LUN resp. SCSI_MAX_ADDRESS.

Also check the drive ID and termination.
Oh, and test with another working cable. |

This is a link to the drive that i'm using :
http://stason.org/TULARC/pc/hard-dri...CSI2-FAST.html The are no jumpers on ID0,ID1,ID2 so this gives it a scsi ID of 0. As the hardrive is the only device on the chain at the moment, does the drive itself need to be terminated ? At the moment W1 & W3 are jumpered. ( Drive provides terminator local power and terminator power to the bus ) ? Am i right in thinking that even if you are using only one device in a scsi chain,it can connect anywhere along the ribbon cable as long as its terminated ? If i had 3 devices on the ribbon cable,do they have to go in some sort of order ?.....I know they all would have different ID numbers ? |

As I understand the description, you have to make sure that terminators are installed at RN1 and RN2 and then close W1. This should be the factory default.
Or make sure that there are no terminators on RN1 and RN2, install a seperate terminator on the cable behind the HDD and close both W1 and W3. |

Instead of trying to use the onboard scsi,i am now using the PPC scsi instead.
The 68pin cable that i am using has a terminater already installed at the end of it,so i have taken the terminater off the hardrive and now it finds it properly. |
