Ami Sector One
One of my favourite Amgia sites has just gotten even better:
Ami Sector One - http://amiga.emucamp.com - has now 'morphed' into the Ami Sector One Network. So, in addition to the good old ASO site with its numerous free game downloads, the Amiga compendiums, Apps, Demos, Mods etc. etc., there are 2 new sections now: the Emerald Web (formerly known as Emerald Mine Online), an excellent source for Emerald Mine freaks with LOTS of Emerald Mine variants & clones for download, and the Wanted Team site, offering EaglePlayer players and misc. mod stuff. Good work Bernd! Your site definitely deserves a :thumbs_up |

Thanks for the heads up on this one. I had noticed some time ago that my bookmark for Emerald Mines Online was dead and that was quite a bummer, so I am thrilled to see it back online! And after going there to see it, I ended up hanging out at AS1 for over an hour!
Only problem with AS1 is that (at least for me) the downloads move at a snail's pace. I only get 0.4K/sec (on cable modem!) |

Wow, download speed is now very good !!!
yes, now the download speed is very good.
I have send to Bernd some email about the speed and broken download (not to flame it, just to report the problem). When i see a problem, i say it, in hope that the problem can be find a solution. But when a problem is solved (like for 'Amiga Sector One') i say it too. Now the 'Amiga Sector One' & 'Emerald Mine' is back with the best site for Amiga. Bernd Gmeineder have made a very good work to solve this problem of speed and broken download. For example, i have download the game 'Case condor', a game of 65 Mo that whas impossible to download (always broken download after 30-60 minuts of download for 500 Ko - 1.2Mo). Now i have it downloaded in < than 30 minuts. Well, very good indeed. |

Actually, I mentioned it here, as well as in a different thread (Bernd is a registered member here) and he replied that he was working on the speed.
But I must say, you are right. The speed was great. I capped out at 151k/sec!!! And that was while downloading another (larger) file at the same time! Thanks for the fix, Bernd! And thanks for the info, Mav! |
