centering screen

Hello, what I'm going to talk about is a big Winuae problem and I've tried all possible ways to get ride of it without success.

I've tried every possible screen resolutions and also I've tried to enable centering x and y in the option or disable it.
I've tried to enable and disable rtg.
No matter if I work in a window resolution or full screen.. the problem stays.

I've tried a demo called: Dragon's lair demo and the first screen that appears (before the demo has loaded) shows the last two rows characters shifted on the right.
For better understanding what I'm saying I should send the adf to someone 's e-mail.
I may link the site where it can be downloaded but as this is a regular demo, so it isn't protected by copyright, in that site there is also copyright amiga software.

The problem, I think, is the video output resolution.
Maybe the programmer could implement an exact amiga resolution on desktop. I know this could be a problem for full screen but at least on a window would work.

Ps: this is a problem that has to be solved also on Fellow amiga emulator but I know that this emulator project has stopped since years.

just use 720x512 and pixel doubling. should be enough to see everything including overscan area if used. the auto centering options should take care of the rest.

I've already tried every resolution, even this one.
It seems so be no way to get that output screen working as it should.

Don't see anything wrong (if you mean "Visionary Design Technologies.. blahblah" screen.

Screenshot please.

(and is this only a guess or confirmed on a real A500? there are so many programs that are supposed to look "wrong")

Same results if I choose amiga1000 or amiga1200 emulation or various a500 chipsets (ocs, ecs..)

Same results with other resolutions...

Ps: this isn't a bug of the software programmer because it works ok on amiga 500
I put the adf in a floppy and then tried it on amiga.

I just use the null filter and resize/move the screen using that.

Don't take screenshots with it though otherwise they'll be shite

I've tried but no results.
Can you post all the values you've used in filter area and in display area?
Have you selected double pixel?
Have you selected rtg? center screen?
What is the resolution that you have choosen?

In filter area, have you selected auto center screen?....
If not, what are the values?

.....
Thanks

ok but you've seen the screenshot so you can notice the problem and seems to be not only mine...
Have you tried the demo adf I'm talking about?
There is another demo that shows that screen in exact way
Be carefull not to try the other file.
The different is that the background loading screen is black in the other demo that is working
You have to try the one with blue background color loading screen.

On real amiga it works.
So this is a bug on displaying some overscan area in emulator.
I manage to change some resolutions and figure out one that fits all in the screen but as if it is a strange resolution, it can be displayed only in a window.
The secret is to display only the underscan area of the amiga screen.
There must be a bug on displaying overscan area in some circostances.

Hmmmm... interesting. I tried the demo you mentioned using a standard A500 config and there does indeed appear to be some sort of overscan problem with the text 'wrapping' around the screen.

If you really have tried the same demo on a real Amiga 500 then I guess it must surely be a bug in WinUAE. Although I don't think I'd quite go to your lengths of calling it a 'big winuae problem' as it only seems to be this one demo disk that it affects. Still it might be worth looking into more.

I've put the ADF I tested in the zone if anyone is interested.

No filters were used in the above test. I don't use filters as my machine just isn't fast enough.

Maybe it only shows up with the demo version posted in the zone. Here is the configuration file I've used.

Tried using all the A500 quickstart configurations and get the same issue with all of them. The two conigurations with 512k RAM won't run because the demo requires 1MB RAM.

I'm not sure what more I can say. I'm using the latest beta. Are you sure you re trying the demo with the blue intro screen like in my screenshot? Could you please post a screenshot of what you are seeing.
