AWeb would need to be recompiled against the latest AmiSSL to use it, the only browser that is built against it is the current iBrowse.

(Edit) oops, can see you were trying older versions. They might not work as they don't support current SSL standards etc.

Probably you have done something wrong in the installation, AWeb works fine but it can't access sites https .

AWeb needs 3.6 (amissl_v097g.library)

You need to start with the oldest when reinstalling. First 3.6, afterwards the latest (4.9).

Btw, latest YAM (nightly) now properly supports the latest AmiSSL too.

No I hadn't tried any other versions before 4.9. I was about to try 4.7 until AMIGASYSTEM posted the link to 4.9 today. So I began with that.

RE-compile? What does that mean in relation to this situation? Pardon my lack of knowledge . Re-compiling to me was something I did when I was learning java code years ago but I dunno what that means in the context of my AmiSSL issue.

Well I don't think I did anything wrong with the install, I mean I double clicked it and let the script install for version 3.+ and for 060's so not much I could have messed up there.

AWeb can't access http: sites? Why does it even provide the option for them and ask specifically for AmiSSL? Just find that curious if it can't access https:

Do I just put something like that into the LIBS directory?

AWeb is old and back when it was actively maintained this browser would let you talk to websites using older SSL versions (2.0, 3.0, etc.). Websites are configured nowadays to stop letting you connect using these older protocols, so be warned that although AWeb support https in theory, a lot of websites will not work (because they are expecting TLS (the successor of SSL)).

You can just use the Installer for both, just make sure you start with the oldest.

No I think AWeb support https, it can access only on sites that have double access, both http and https, in sites where you access only with https can not access, example site amiganews.it has double access, see screenshot.

Something was not done correctly, AmiSSL can also be installed by hand, just do an Assign and copy the data to the respective folders and everything will work.

Directory structure example assign:

Assign AmiSSL: "DH0:Internet/AmiSSL"

AmiSSL Directory/File see screenshot

Important check a C and in LIBS that there are no files of this type

As you can see the installer has done all that

Also none of those libraries are in C or Libs.

The one and only amissl_xxxxxx.library file is in DH0:Amissl/Libs

and it is amissl_v111k.library

where can I grab the older files from and do I simply just add them into DH0:Amissl/Libs ?

Ahh it's ok, found amissl 3.6 and got amissl_v097g.library

I just put this into the DH0:Amissl/Libs folder along with amissl_v111k.library.

@AMIGASYSTEM you have a whole bunch of old amissl_vxxx.library files. Do I need these also?

As you can see there is an error !
if AmiSSL is located in DH0:Amissl/Libs

The assign should be:

Assign Amissl: DH0:Amissl/Libs

In your user-startup the volume name is Workbench: !

You can find the old libraries in previous versions of AmiSSL, but copy them only if some software requires them, AmiSSL v4.9 is now supported by many Applications.

You can also solve it by renaming DH0 to Workbench or rename Workbench to DH0 in the user-startup.

Seems @AMIGASYSTEM hasn't installed 4.9 yet - the installer will delete most of those old libs, as they will never get used once 4.9 is installed. The only other 4.x one you might need is amissl_v111a.library. So, no, you don't need any of the others.

my Workbench: is DH0: it's the same drive and doesn't matter which way I put it. DH0: was named Workbench: during initial setup of that hardrive.

amissl_v111a.library ok I will try put that one in as well.

The assign was correct if DH0 = Workbench, which most likely it does. The AmiSSL: assign should always point to the root install location - not the libs dir.

Any application compiled to use AmiSSL 4.0-4.2 or 4.4-4.8 will automatically use 4.9, as it is fully backwards compatible. Only applications that are built using the AmiSSL 4.3 SDK will need the library from 4.3 installed (hopefully, most have been compiled to use 4.4 or indeed an older version by now). There is no need for applications to require newer AmiSSL versions, unless they use newly added OpenSSL functions.

No my screenshot was an example I use only v4.9, but as said I met some software like YAM that required an older version and to cancel the request I added the requested library (amissl_v097g.library).

If the volume is named DH0: it will not work Workbench:, unless you make an assignment

You can avoid any problems if you use SYS:

With SYS: you can change the name of the volume and everything will work.

Sorry I made a copy paste of the user rabidgerry without noticing, I know it is wrong assignment

I use:

Assign AmiSSL: "SYS:Internet/AmiSSL"

Coincidentally I installed amissl 111k earlier today (because AmiGemini needs it), and it deleted all the older versions except 097g.

Yes, AmiGemin doesn't work with AmiSSL 4.9, but it starts well with AmiSSL 4.8 (amissl_v111j.library).

On AmiGemin I paste a link and get the message "DNS loop failed" ?

Sorry I got the version letter wrong. I do have 4.9 installed and it seems to be working fine with AmiGemini, but I haven't tried pasting links. Can you give an example of a link that fails?
