ACA500Plus Issues
HI.
2x ACA500Plus boards arrived today, Thanks Jens. My mate brought his amiga round to mine and we tested them both. They both seem to work fine on his, but on mine they dont. On mine they startup to the menu, I can see the options, and the parallax star-field, but the keyboard is frozen, so I cant select anything, and the board itself is displaying 99. On my mate's amiga both start up ok, and they both show FE on the display. He can then select a profile and boot it. we went right back to stock on both machines, removing the trapdoor expansion, and the rom switcher on mine (put 1.3 back on the board). this made no difference. Both Amiga's are Rev 6A, Mine is from 89 and is a green PCB, and his is from 91 and a brown PCB. Both machines were running on the same PSU, a Meanwell RPT-60B Interestingly, it is significantly more difficult to install the car on mine than on his, making us think my PCB is thicker. Also, my Action replay MkIII is working fine on this Amiga. I'm completely out of ideas. Last edited by CubeTheory; 22 February 2020 at 18:45. |

Hi.
Just thought I’d bump this issue to see if anyone has any ideas. I have update on the icomp.de forum too but no reply as of yet. The issue is directly related to the keyboard. I swapped the CIA’s around and there was no change, so we then swapped the keyboard from my friends A500 to mine, and the ACA500Plus worked. Swapped them back, wouldn’t work. Mine is an earlier 2-ribbon keyboard (Hi-tek?) and my friends is a Mitsumi. Not sure what to do with this now. Just wondered if there was any significant differences between these 2 keyboards |

That's a bizarre incompatibility if it is the keyboard! I wouldn't that would make any difference to an accelerator unless it does something bizarre with the reset line or something, or it always sending an odd keypress signal or something.
I have an ACA that doesn't work on my A500's but works fine on my A1000. I don't think it even comes up to the menu, though. |

Jens isn't a big fan of meanwell power supplies; try an original PSU if you've got one
