Really excellent work, dying to play it! Only for A500?
A500 512k / 512k is the base but it should work on just about anything ( well the WHDLoad should, having disk loading issues on more exotic configs )

I can help for a whdload slave if needed.

To be fair, if its based on the original European release it's probably not worth it. It'll be missing a stack of dialog and radio messages.

Is there a specific reason to stick too the original MSX2 version? Amiga can do better graphics and better audio.

I think H0ffman wants to do a quick release, and adding better gfx and audio will take extra time.

It also looks better than the NES version, although I quite liked the NES tune.

Closest to Metal gear on the Amiga/Atari looks like Rambo III, the Genesis version looks a lot better.

The MSX version is the original and most complete version of the game. The NES version has sections missing and lets not even get into the Spectrum and C64 versions.

In terms of improvements it's a case of playing to my strengths. I can't do graphics and also have a red / green colour blindness. I'm good with audio though which is why the game has a complete overhaul of music and sound effects. I've also added a new ending / credits section because I didn't thing the pay off was good enough in the original (and I had space on the disk).

However, that all being said there have been some graphical improvements. Toni Galvez has drawn a brand new set of character images based on the original manual which appear in-game. This really helps deliver the games dialog. I've also made changes where code was doing the lifting, such as the fire trooper's flame thrower, the parachute jump, flashing enemies when the die etc. etc. etc.

Also, redblade is right. I've been doing this since November and I kinda wanna be done with it now and have people play it instead.

Good news is, it's so very very close now

Hey Honx, i'd rather not at this point but thanks for the offer. There will be a bunch of technical reasons. As far as I can tell, the gog versions run in an emulator with something bolted on top to deal with the dialog so it could get complicated.

Akira has been working on a fresh Spanish translation of the game (big market of MSX in Spain) and even that posed some serious challenges. You'd have thought text would be simple right? It's not.

Also, I've ran out of ram now.

Even I can play it on MSX2, just idea that this is on Amiga sounds great.

Not to mention that game is enhanced...

Thank you and rest of team for all work you put into this and similar projects!

I have no idea, but maybe the spanish version of msx could help for this.

I dont know if h0ffman will release his source code, though if anyone is desprate for specific translations, that would surely be the best way forward for those.

Excitement building for this release over here for sure anyways
