Cool IFF Loader v1.0.0 is released... :)

Hi chaps

Well I bet you're all wondering where I've been all this time. Well I've been extremely busy working on my win32 IFF/ILBM Loader program. It's now finished and so I've decided to release it for free to the community. It's probably the most complete ILBM viewer on the PC as it can load every single type of picture. It's taken over six months and a helluva lot of hours pouring over the ROM Kernel Reference manuals but I've learnt a lot so I think it's been worth it. Hopefully in the future it may even evolve into an IFF Anim viewer program and an Amiga game development toolkit. So download it and try it out with some of your own IFF images and let me know what you all think of it. Enjoy!

http://www.abime.net/?go=download#utils

Features:
=========
  • Can load any IFF from a 2 colour palette right upto IFF's with the maximum 256 (AGA) colour palette!
  • Can load IFF images which use 24-bits per pixel allowing 16.7 million colours.
  • Can load both compressed and non-compressed IFF/ILBM images.
  • Can load IFF's which use any masking type from 0 to 3.
  • Can load IFF's which use the standard HAM mode which allows 4,096 colours.
  • Can load IFF's which use the newer HAM-8 mode which allows 262,144 colours.
  • Can load IFF's which use Extra-Halfbrite mode which allows 64 colours.
  • Allows the user to zoom in and out of the picture using either Page Up and Page Down or the mouse wheel to scroll upto a 10x zoom factor.
  • Can export a 16-colour palette as a raw binary file. More will be added.
  • Displays every piece of internal IFF/ILBM information at the click of a mouse.
  • Gives the user some general information about their OpenGL implementation.
  • Gives the user the ability to rescale the image back to it's original size and position with a simple click of the right mouse button.

Well done ReAKtor Studios! And I like the oldschool Amiga stripes icon.

I get very scrambled (and flickering) results using Intel's OpenGL. Do I need to install a different version?

Cool

Thanks for the great response guys!

It has been brought to my attention of a couple of bugs relating to the window not responding to being closed and I also found a bug where the program won't display an image if it matches the initial window size of 320x256. These have now been fixed so I should be releasing an updated version in a few days time. As for your problem adolescent, I'm not really sure. Clearly it's an OpenGL related problem. Are you running the program on software drivers or do you have a graphics card installed. I think the program works at it's best with a graphics card installed.

Hmmm. I've just tried the program on a machine running on Intel OpenGL drivers and I've noticed the exact same problem. It's full driver name is Intel Springdale-G. Running OpenGL v1.3.0 - Build 4.13.10.3510. Bizarre. I'll try and look into this problem.

My only Windows system is a laptop (Fujitsu S6110). It has the Intel 830M graphics chip integrated and is running Intel Open GL 1.30 - Build 4.14.10.3691. And I believe it is using software rendering.

This program displays the image for a moment, flickers and quickly returns to a permanent black window with my Radeon 9700 pro if full screen anti aliasing is enabled. It works normally when it's disabled.

What is this good for anyway, you could always view iff files with acdsee and edit them with photoshop if you have installed the appropriate plugin from the photosop cd.
