A1200: How to share files over LAN (Media Server)

I just did a little video demonstrating how easy it is to share files with my PC over a LAN.

I'll update later to add some details.

Very nice..
I'll have to try that..
Well, my router doesn't have that feature, but I have a share on my WinXP box (I use for my network scanner to get to), so I'll try that..
I take it you use smbfs on the Amiga? I haven't poked at that.
(I'm pretty darn familiar with samba on Linux tho, so it should be fun.)

I usually use AmiTradeCenter (FTP) to have the Amiga pull files from my machine and I use AExplorer to push files to the Amiga over the network.

I did not see in the video HOW did you do it, I only see that is working.
I can see few pains when swapping files with CF card, mostly on windows side, like waiting for the card to be recognized, copy files, eject disk, waiting to be ejected and so on.
anyway, waiting for more details....

Ok, I'm a bit crap with details but I'll try.

1) Basically you need a NAS or 'Media Server' type drive, something that is visible under Windows in the Network folder (across your LAN). This was easy for me because my new router has that functionality built in.

2) Then install EasyNet and get a LAN card, use your router's IP etc to connect to the LAN then simple add your Media Center/NAS IP address under the HOST's section of EasyNet (set the network group to WORKGROUP, username/password are required but not actually used so you can just make them up).

3) Within EasyNet you can configure it to automatically connect to the shared drive and mount it on your desktop for easily copying files across from the PC to your Amiga.

Hi

Nice video- good idea of use of the Amiga with a NAS.

One point though: I noticed that you still have the older EasyNet icon set.

EasyNet's icon has now been updated and is available in Glow Icon or 32-bit Power Icon format.

The EasyNet icon updater is now available here to download:

On RC-FTPD make user and pass

make group wiht your dir where you want to move files

like /games select path to that dir
and make READ WRITE all selected by xxxxxxxxxx
and subdirs

On client filezilla connect to server check your ip adress for server

on right side write Directory name used in FTP server

/games and voila copy files from PC to AMiga all in 10 min, if you allready have net on amiga and tcp ip stuck.

Thanks for this little tip you posted. It helped me getting rc-ftpd working. Can now do ftping from my Linux box and phone to the A1200 which is emensley useful.
