Table/Spreadsheet Feature in posts

I know this is a long shot, but some Forums have a table feature, very handy if you want to copy and paste stuff from a spreadsheet.

I was wondering if vBulletin has this feature, but it's been disabled for some reason?

That would certainly be a useful feature.

It hadn't struck me that it might already be included in the vBulletin software.

Doesn't look like there is a table feature, but there is a hack that allows you to use one, from here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=107985 but I'm not sure that RCK will want to add the feature.

For anyone who uses spreadsheets a lot, I suppose the answer would be yes, so long as they post good, needed, interesting and well presented information etc...

I for one use a spreadsheet for loads of stuff, trying to transfer the info to a post without this feature is time consuming, as you need to use the [code] and the 'Courier New' font (fixed width) to space everything correctly. After that, editing becomes a real pain as the font stays at Verdana (proportional width).

Maybe trial it, if members don't seem too interested, then I suppose it can be removed as easily as it was implemented.

I dare say I'd use it.

As would Graham for the game competitions.

Finally, I have found what I've been waiting for, a custom bb code so people can show their spreadsheets via google docs. No need for that hack RCK, this is really straightforward

Any chance we could add this to our custom list of BB codes RCK? So long as there's enough interest of course

Title: Google Spreadsheet
BB Code Tag Name: gs
Replacement:
Code:
<div align="center"><iframe width='95%' height='500' frameborder='0' src='https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key={param}&hl=en&single=true&gid=0&output=html&widget=true'>IFRAME Not Available. <a href="https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key={param}&hl=en&single=true&gid=0&output=html">Direct Link to Spreadsheet.</a></iframe></div>
Example:

Description: Embed a Google Spreadsheet.
Use Option: No
Button Image: (optional)
Remove Tag If Empty: Yes
All Disable Options: Yes

You can see an example here http://awesome.commodore.me/forum/showthread.php?t=232

DH, i can see how that would be useful, fits in quite well.

As for the competition, we developed our own solution. (see SB2)

Doesn't it just

Because I use spreadsheets for just about everything (wouldn't live without it), it's ideal because I can use formulas to make necessary changes without having to edit so much. It's easier + when you want specific columns, it's already done, whereas just relying on the forum, you have to use the code tags to use more than one space, as it won't work in the normal editor + you have to use the fixed font Courier New in order to space your columns evenly, and even then, that doesn't always work well. Also it takes bloody ages just to format it all the way you want it, or even write it all out, which takes forever.

So this for me it's ideal as it's not something RCK has to install into specific PHP codes/files either (as sometimes these go wrong, depending on what else has been added/modified) as this is simply an additional bb code only. The hard work is publishing the damn thing in google docs so it can be posted.

I have added instructions to apply everything you need do in google docs spreadsheet HERE, the rest should be plain sailing, well, certainly for those who use forums a lot.

@RCK, You can pinch my instructions and custom button for the spreadsheet bb code too, that's if you implement it, from the link above

Thanks, mate!

Hey, I've just noticed your mention of the YouTube button. Can you embed YouTube videos too in the CIA Forum?
