AxRuntime v41.2 Released
A new version of AxRuntime is now available! AxRuntime lets developers compile their Amiga API-based applications as Linux programs.
The highlights of release v41.2 are: 1) AROS-Shell, an AmigaDOS-compatible Shell, is now available for you as a native Linux program. You can write DOS scripts and use shell commands to interact with Linux filesystem. 2) AxRuntime becomes a bridge between AROS x86_64 and Linux by allowing running native AROS programs as standalone Linux programs. In this function AxRuntime is similar to Wine. Wine allows running Windows programs on Linux, AxRuntime allows running AROS programs on Linux. This release comes with 4 applications: AROS-Shell, MPlayer, WookieChat and Final Writer 7 (demo). Additionally AROS x86_64 applications like MUIbase can also be used! A full change log of this release is available here: https://axrt.org/index.php?tab=releasenotes#AXRT412. To download AxRuntime packages and applications go to https://axrt.org/index.php?tab=download. If you are interested in using AxRuntime for your projects or even contributing to AxRuntime, please contact me via email or PM on one of the listed sites: https://axrt.org/index.php?tab=community Below you can see a selection Amiga programs running on a linux desktop. Very interesting project! Please keep up the good work.
I think it has much potential to be more than just a tool for developers in the long run! |

tygre, Gorf, DavidQ Thanks for your comments.
If there is an Amiga open-source software you would be interested in using on Linux, please post it in this thread. |

Hi Deadwood!
Thanks to you for this awesome project! I'd like to "port" AmiModRadio to Linux so that it could be run there as well, I wanted to do it but then, time... Maybe you could guide me: I don't want to take up too much of your time! But maybe you could put me on the right tracks? Cheers! |

Oh, that would be super cool. That's one program I'm missing on my installation and would surely use. I'm happy to guide you with how to approach porting. I recently helped port MUIbase and it went much smoother than I expected. I'll PM you my email and we can begin!

Amiga E would be to be prepared to work with AxRuntime. Currently C language is working and Pascal support is being worked on. There are two scenarios possible: a) Amiga E (PortablE?) compiler is ported to Linux and glue code is added to work with AxRuntime b) Amiga E compiler is ported to produce AROS 64-bit programs. AmiExpress is compiled for AROS 64-bit and the AxRuntime is used as a bridge to run such program under Linux. |

Hi All,
Thanks to efforts of @cdimauro, AxRuntime is now confirmed to be working on Windows 11 using WSL. There were some issues that required a new release, 41.3 which is now available: https://axrt.org/index.php?tab=download. More information can be found in the documentation: https://github.com/deadw00d/AROS/blo...ibution/README or in AE thread: https://ae.amigalife.org/index.php?t...10507#msg10507. Enjoy! |
