Amiga joystick on PC
I found on the net many ways to connect some PC Joysticks on the Amiga.
I recently bought an "Ultimate Superstick" Joystick for my amiga. Is there a way to connect it to my PC? (USB ? Midi port ?) |

Get a cheap USB joypad and add a DB9 connector to that. :-)

i don't want to connect a PC joystick on the amiga (USB to DB9)
i want to connect an Amiga joystick to the PC (DB9 to USB or DB9 to Midi) This joystick is 2 buttons arcade-style. That's why i'd like to try it on the PC. |

The USB Joypad has a male connector, the DB9 Joystick has a male connector, the PC has a female USB connector. The adapter should then have a female DB9, a female USB and a male USB ? Well.... The CW MK4 should be a solution. There seems to exist some good linux drivers... Last edited by scaf; 18 June 2007 at 19:24. |

You can try PPjoy http://www.geocities.com/deonvdw/PPJoy.htm
Unfortunately it's not support by WinFellow |

Maybe you can find a shitty USB pad in a thrift store. If you don't want to cut the plug off, make an adapter. |

In my opinion the joypad can be cut and mutilated any way you like, but the Amiga joystick must remain good. :-) -- Basically what is needed to do this mod is a male DB9 connector and a length of 6 or 7 wire cable. You open up the joypad, check out the contacts for up down left right and firebutton 1. Using a multimeter you measure which side of the contacts is common. If there is no common, then it's better to use a different joypad.. :-( What this means is that every direction + fire button has two contacts beneath it. One for the actual direction / fire signal and one that is common (usually GND) and goes to the other contact in each direction / fire. Now just connect the common contact to gnd on the DB9 and then connect the directions to each of the direction pins and fire 1 to the fire 1 pin on the DB9. Cut out a hole for the cable to come out of the joypad's case and put it all back together. Finally: another page which explains what I wrote using more words and pictures: http://www.ktverkko.fi/~msmakela/ele.../index.en.html |

Like this one, but black : http://www.thelogbook.com/wishlist/pict1919.jpg It's exactly what I needed. My joystick is Atari-compatible thanks. There will be a lot of work, as i'm not an expert in electronics, but i can solder |
