The first one, definitely. I think that competing against the clock was a bad move in Lotus 2. The computer-generated tracks in Lotus 3 obviously lacked human design.
I think the AI (or lack thereof) in the Lotus series is most disturbing. The fact that the computer drivers can't lap each other causes them to slow down considerably on most races. I liked many design ideas in Jaguar XJ-220 but not the look and feel. |

I remember the AI - the constant move of cars in your direction was freaking annoying! Though I guess they would do that to some extent to stop you getting past...

@Fiath in my opinion an AI that constantly puts cars in your way is cheating so it's only right u do it back

I don't think the cars were moving specifically at the player's direction - just from one side of the road to the other.
Oh, and the first computer driver is very annoying when suddenly slowing down without apparent reason. I assume that it gets "too close" to the last driver (sometimes the last driver accelerates just as suddenly). |

pretty much a split choice between lotus 1 and 2, but chose lotus 2 as I didnt have to use relokick on my a500+ to run it!
Lotus 3 - total letdown, seriously, the songs and radio, alreet, but the feel just made it feel like it was a load of random courses, not enough excitement in comparison of the first two :-) BTW> the computer cars did just bounce from one side of the track to the other- hehe! Ai rox0rz! Maybe have a "best racer" poll on the miggy? |

Lotus 2 didn't have an unlimited supply of cars I know. With a friend we used to use the unlimited time cheat. In the night level (level 2) we usually just let ourselves stay on the starting line for a minute or so, then you could drive through the level without bumping into any traffic except the opponent.

anyway, i don't agree on AI, it is pretty much the same on all of the similar games from that era, but i didn't find it bothering, in fact zig-zaging and getting in the line of my brother following me to keep him from surpassing me was precisely what i was doing all the time he was on sight |

Lotus 3 for me. Like others have said, it combined the best of its predecessors, and it just had everything. I loved the green car, and the radio.

lotus 2. First one I played, I quite liked the tunes as well. The turbo was nice, and the liverpool stage was cool when you went under the trucks.
lotus 1, one was nice, nice theme music, and nice .nz import txt at the start of it. |

I can't believe anyone has chosen Lotus 3. It was horrendously slow (especially the mountain stages), lacked atmosphere, had some appalling level designs (completely random, so there was no diffiuclty curve within them), some poor design ideas (lap-based races against the clock especially, as you were just doing the exact same thing lap after lap), the new course designs were bland, and the 4-player mode was gone.
Lotus 2 is my favourite - fast, varied, smooth and exciting. the good thing about raicng against the clock was the late drama it triggered as you tried to beat the checkpoint. Lotus 1 is among the top 5 Amiga races as well in my book though. |

Lotus 2 without a doubt, playing 4 player with 2 Amigas linked via null modem cable. One of the best multiplayer games on the system

Lotus 1 for me. Although 2 was more polished, i found 1 more fun, especially with friends. Other favorites are Domarks F1, (especially on a 1200) and if we are not picky about the vehicle, Super Hang On.

2 for me, it was way better than 1 and I got bored of the series by the time 3 came along.

Another vote for Jaguar XJ 220
But if I had to choose, I'd choose #2 for the option to play a single game player in full screen. |

I pick Lotus 1. It was the best for 2 players competition.
3 different championships and a lot of fun! |

I dropped out of Uni because I played Lotus II and Kick Off II too much (and drank too much, and smoked too much and never went to lectures), so strangely enough my vote goes to Lotus II.
