Post Issues with 256GB SD card in A1200 with Kickstart/OS 3.1.4

I am trying to set up A1200 with a 256GB microSD card using 2.5'' IDE to SD card adapter. It is a Vanilla A1200 with 8GB Fast RAM expansion, clock-port RTC module and Kickstart 3.1.4 on ROM.
The SD card is being detected OK, but then bizarre issues start to roar their heads.

Setup:

Disk is being partitioned and formatted on a real A1200 using PFS3AIO v3.1 as its FS.
Can install pfs3aio into RDB and partition without issues. Setting max transfer to 0x1fe00.
I have created a single 8GB System partition and two additional 102GB partitions.
I could format the first two partitions but the 3rd gave me out of range error when trying, so I enabled a Direct SCS cmd mode on it. This allowed me to format it without issues.

I then copied OS and all the data I wanted to all three partitions using FS-UAE.
All 3 partitions were working fine with that SD card when used in UAE (RDB mode and UAE driver).

Upon re-inserting the card into my real Amiga I can boot and access data on the first two partitions but any attempt to read a file from the 3rd partition ends up with read access errors (I can traverse through directories without triggering any errors, just opening any file causes read failures).
Disabling Direct SCSI CMD mode in HDToolbox for the 3rd partition and rebooting makes it not detectable by the AmigaOS on a real hardware.

Reconnecting the card to FS-UAE and everything is visible and working again.

I am at a loss as to what might be happening. Could this be caused by the IDE to SD adapter (it is a cheap generic Chinese adapter ordered off Amazon)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Can anyone recommend an adapter they had used which works without issues for them?

It could be that your IDE to SD is not SDXC compatible or perhaps it is not LBA48 compatible.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you know if there's a way to check whether the adapter supports LBA48 from linux/windows?

According to its Amazon description it should support SDXC cards, it does state ATA33 support which If memory serves me well, was UDMA2, way before LBA48 support was added to the spec. Damn me if it is the issue.

Will give it a go. Just not sure if It will be a reliable source. as I would be using an SD card in an 2.5'' adapter with a 2.5'' to USB dongle. Not sure which device I would get info with hdparm. Will give it a go. Thanks for the tip!

The USB dongle most likely will not pass the commands to the SD adapter as is. You would need to hook the SD to IDE up to a motherboard or PCI/PCIE card IDE connector.

Indeed and that would be a problem as I do not have any laying about any-more.

Can anyone recommend and SD adapter which worked for them with SD cards bigger than 128GB?
