Any interest in a guide to using VSTi with MIDI?
A lot of people don't have real MIDI hardware these days, but there's quite a bit of good Amiga music software that uses MIDI. I've figured out a way to use VSTi-based software synthesisers with WinUAE and would be happy to write up a quick quite to using VSTi with WinUAE, but before I do, I just want to find out if anyone else is interested.

Well, now that I know that I'll get at least one reader, I'll do the write-up!

Sorry for the DP, but I just wanted the update to be more noticable. I've thrown together a draft here: https://docs.google.com/document/pub...p-olEMpbZ3b1NI
After I've worked it over with your input, I'll eventually create a new thread with the text here. |

Be sure to let me know what you think after you've read it and tried stuff out!

Actually I use for quite some time this same approach to use pads to control formant filter effects.
Instead of loopbe1 I use Midiyoke for the virtual MIDI, on Savihost I load the Touchpad2midi .dll and in Reason I control any virtual effect or dial I want with the pad. In my case is just for the formant filter. But i would try to control some vst instruments from OctaMED just for kicks. Would really be nice. Madcrow was really a nice idea I've never come up with it before. Stretching the Amiga boundaries. ![]() Last edited by AmigaFriend; 20 September 2011 at 01:22. Reason: correction |

In case anyone's interested, I found a rare VSTi version of the Yamaha S-YXG50 softsynth somewhere online. I'm not sure if it can be posted here, but when using it with WinUAE, it's almost like having a Project XG card!

you can also make use of soundfonts via the hardware synth on various soundblaster cards.
