App for Workbench 3.1 to play mp3 or mod in background while game loaded? (WinUAE)
Hey there!
Is there an application that plays/loops an mp3 or ogg or wav OR a MOD from Workbench 3.1 that will continue to play in background if a game is started? So that I get sounds/music from the started game but additionally an mp3/mod in the background? I mean the 4 available channels and the memory are surely a problem - but is there any way to achieve this? Maybe with special settings/modifications to WinUAE? What I want to do is actually listen to music in some games that just lack music for whatever reason - but I want it to play from Workbench so that the Amiga does it, not from my host operating system I run UAE on. No problem if not, just interested... thanks for taking the time to read |

no way, generaly a game is not multitask friendly, so if you want to launch mp3/mod/music while playing... use winamp under Windows ..

The only game I know where you can play music in the background while playing is Dune 2. You may disable music/sfx in game configuration. At least here Dune 2 hangs sooner or later if I don`t disable it. Generally multitasking friendly games may work with background music but there is no guarantee.

The easiest way would be to run two instances of WinUAE simultaneously.

There are actually hundreds of games on the Amiga that you could do this with, they are just not likely to be the ones you had in mind. Every game that is RTG capable for instance, should work (I have not tested them all). HOL lists some of them:
http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?&N_ref_hardware=16 I have actually done this with a few games using AHI and AmigaAmp. |

If you really must do everything under AmigaOS you could run the AmigaOS version of E-UAE...
