Have to agree to an extent, the case design looked like a fishing tackle box.

Absolutely the A2000 was the worst.
It cost at least a thousand bucks more and the only difference was a few Zorro slots, what a rip off. The A500+ was rather misguided too, that would be my second choice. |

Perhaps we should divide answers between the two different interpretations of the question. That is:
[1] - The worst Amiga at the time of release/production. [2] - The worst Amiga to own now. In answer to [1] I would say A600/a500+. In answer to [2] I would say a500 without a doubt. Even though the a2k might have been expensive in the day, they can be obtained cheaply now and make a nice base on which to expand. For instance, one of my a2ks is an 060/60 (tekmagic) with Spectrum 28/24 2mb, 128mb fast, 2mb chip on board using the rev 6 2mb chip hack (not an agnus plug in board like the Megachip), Tocatta Sound card, Deneb USB, DVDrom (scsi), indivision ECS, custom KS 3.9 roms/OS 3.9, 73GB 15000rpm HD and it is truly a beast. |

Also I dont think the a500 is the worst model available now either, you can pick one up for bugger all and its the most software compatable amiga. If you have a limited budget then i'd say it was the one to go for if you dont mind using floppy's which some people on here seem to prefer.

I need to ask Cammy to vouch for this As I only have 2MB chip in my A600. Can't seem to manage to grab one of those little PCMCIA cards... |

cant vote because theres more than one.i love the amiga but here goes:
cd32: for being pitted against consoles and being underpowered cdtv: multimedia machine and being underpowered(nearly all amigas can take a cd drive) A600: for replacing the the A500-A500+ and not putting a numpad on it? and being underpowered i.e the A600 should of had a 020 the A1200 an 030. and well as for the A500 not having a zorro slot it did actaully have one on the left side (the signals where there for one)albeit with a hack. They should have stayed in the computer business, CD32 and CDTV was overpriced and useless.
And how can anyone rate A1200 as the worst Amiga ever? Okey it was not as good as we all hoped it would be, but it sure is the best Amiga ever created with A4000 right around the corner. And dont give me that IDE sux speech, SCSI was to expensive to survive the private market. |

Dont get me wrong the a600 did have some nice features, it was small, easy to shove a hdd in and the pcmcia slot. It was always to me though the pointless model for that bit extra you could get the a1200 which just pissed on it from a great height. But after saying that my most recent amiga acquisition is in fact the a600.

I didnt even know the A1200 existed, soon after I got my A600, my dad closed his computer shop, . So seeing new Amiga models being demo'ed ended for me, . I think any Amiga hardware is great. As you still get the great simplistic user interaction. Takes me back to being a kid. I would even go as far as saying my favorite OS is 1.3. |

Well at the time of the a600 I had an ks1.3 2mb ecs a500 so the a600 seemed like a pointless upgrade. I did want to get the a1200 but just didnt have the spare money as I needed to go down the PC path with College and Uni.

Also voted for CD32 - I thought it was a compete let down at the time.
Playing the terrible CD32 version of Sensible Soccer with that awful controller still gives me nightmares! The A600 is a close second... although I like the size of it, for years it was virtually impossible to expand. Long live the A1200! Best Amiga ever! |

Well, I cannot downvote the CD32 as it is the only Amiga I own these days
In comparison to the other CD-based consoles at the time (CDi, MegaCD, Jaguar) the CD32 actually performed quite well in the market, shifting something like 100,000 units over a period of a few months. They would have sold more, but if you remember, the problems C= were having at the time meant that they couldn't actually make enough consoles to meet demand. And then they went backrupt. Having said that, they should have added and expansion port for proper upgrades (RAM, etc). It was basically an A1200 in a different case, so I don't understand why they removed the option to upgrade it. It even works with Amiga keyboards! Bonus these days of having a CD32 is that copying games and making new game CDs is a breeze, and the s-video port makes connecting it to a TV easy too. I still love the ugly little piece of trash anyway |

I voted for the CD32, personally I didn't like anything about it, they would've been better investing the development money on other things. That controller...*shudders*.....so ugly.

Yeah, the CD32 controller was shit, but the competition pro version fixed that
It's a crying shame that no-one ever actually wrote games that used the CD32 hardware properly. Every game was basically a direct port with a CD audio soundtrack. I would love to see a tech demo showing the capabilities of the Akiko chip. |

The CD32 is beautiful!! Say what you want about its performance or its point, but come on its wonderfully crafted. Its like saying Kelly Brooke is ugly.

Actually yes I quite like the CD32, both looks wise and for what's in it. I may be considered crazy but that was one (modest) step in the right direction for the miggy imo.
