DIY auto mouse/joystick switch

Years ago I built a joystick/mouse switcher that swapped between the two when I pressed the fire button/left mouse button.

I believe I copied it from an old CU amiga article, but as I've thrown them all out I can't go back and look it up.

My problem is that I chopped off the 9 pin connection to the amiga mouse port so I could build a null modem cable for my 486 to play deathmatch Doom :eek I would like to know if anyone has that article so I can connect it back up again?

I have found a very similar article on aminet (hard/hacks/mswitch.lha) that uses almost exactly the same components, which in common with each other are these IC's : 74LS157 & 74LS00. However, because they differ slightly - my 74LS00 has more pins than on the diagram(!?) and doesn't use a capacitor, I'd like to fix mine instead of taking it all to pieces.

I still haven't found the article, googled again yesterday with no luck.

I'm 99% sure it was CU amiga, so if anyone does happen to flick through some old mags please keep an eye out for it!

Thanks for the response. That link isn't working for me. Looks like the site is down so I'll keep retrying.

Anyone knows why is the 47 nF capacitor in that diagram directly connected between GND and +5V ????

I see a pattern

That's the one a mentioned in my original post. It's almost identical, but as I don't really understand how/why it works I can't adapt it (I can follow instructions and use a soldering iron). I'm just looking for the "simple" option of adding the plug back on my previously working version.

Thanks anyway.

They're too big for the zone. I can't make them smaller as it would become unreadable, it's hard enough as it is!

The OCR didn't make too clever a job at it! Once I've fixed mine, I'll make a proper document out if it and post it up.
