Karateka (ST Port)

I'd definitely say these games (that others have mentioned also)

... Karateka
... Moon Patrol
... Slap Fight

With Karateka I remember playing this on my old C64 as a boy... The Atari ST version looks way cool in comparison. Would be awesome if an Amiga port was done

Sounds doable.
But then a pristine, uncracked version has to be found (and in .ST format, not .STX). The cracked one (by bladerunners) looks too damaged (they've just put their name everywhere).

Been searching the internet; all I can find is the following:

... Karateka (1988)(Broderbund)[cr Bladerunners][b].zip
... karateka_(1988)(broderbund)_&_schoolyard_slaughter_(19xx)(sickworld_software)_&_typhoon_thompson_(1989)(broderbund)-atarist.zip

Don't know if the 2nd file is of any use? Both in The Zone! anyway

* [ST] zany golf / KARATEKA
* [ST] addictaball / crystal castle / KARATEKA / locomotion / pac mania

...but unfortunately the page is down

At least the first one is useless as it's the version i've looked at already.
I'll have a look at the other one.

But as i said, a simple copy of an original disk would be the best source. Even if the disk image doesn't work "as is" due to copy protection.

Going to be really hard to find

There's no SPS release and nothing currently for sale on eBay (otherwise I'd look into purchasing).

Came across an Atari forum; maybe I can ask there.

I find it strange that people asking for a game port don't have the game themselves

Oops, indeed you mentioned the C64

Nevertheless I need a good version to start with - or perhaps several bad ones.
What i can say is that the program looks very different in the two versions you gave. The crackers seem to have packed just everything in their way.

Also found "karateka_rar.rar" which contains:

Code:
KARATEKA <directory>
FILE_ID.DIZ
The directory "KARATEKA" contains:

Code:
BLADERUN.DT0
BLADERUN.DT1
COMPLET0.DAT
COMPLET2.DAT
KARATEKA.TOS
UJCOMP1.DAC
I image these files are what's on the "Karateka (1988)(Broderbund)[cr Bladerunners][b]" disk as the file "FILE_ID.DIZ" contains text:
Code:
Karateka from Broderbund
Crack by The Blade Runners
In The Zone! anyway...

This version is packed as well and is not directly usable.

I don't think people want a port of Karateka if it is going to require a 030 CPU

Speak for yourself. I think most people on here would be thrilled to have Karateka on the amiga even if it only runs on 030. Go meynaf!

I only have two A500 with 1MB each. Naturally, I'd prefer that these conversions would run on them and every time someone programs or converts a game or program that runs on the humble A500, I'm absolutely thrilled. But even knowing that some of these conversions won't work on the A500, I'd still like to see them ported over. Why? Because we deserve so. Because the community deserves so. Because the Amiga deserves it. Action is life. While we convert games, program new games or complete unfinished games, we're building on top of the already legendary Amiga scene. I don't want it to ever stop, so I stand for every action that contributes towards a more active scene and newer games/programs/demos for our beloved Amiga, regardless of not being able to actually play them on my real Amigas.
